My friends and I hadn’t booked our accommodations for Amsterdam after leaving Tomorrowland in Belgium and I was looking late at night for something central. I found Rho to be in a good location and within my budget so I booked for three nights. I arrived on the 24th after leaving Tomorrowland in Belgium. There were two agents working the front desk when I arrived. The one in the line I was standing in told me she would be right with me. I barely waited three minutes and Andrea checked me in seamlessly! She was very kind and professional, making pleasant conversation as she escorted me to the elevator. She shared some interesting history on the hotel and gave me a few helpful hints for getting in and out depending on the time of day. They can keep your key for you at the front desk if you don’t want to risk losing it while exploring Amsterdam which I thought was a nice touch! I opted to be on the square side and Andrea gave me a fair warning that there would be trucks loading early in the morning but I could barely hear them. I left my windows open most of the time and enjoyed the buzz of Dam Square which is just a stone’s throw away. The few other times I saw Andrea she greeted me with a warm hello, or have a great night on my way out.
After two nights in the hotel I decided to extend my stay. Ingeborg was very helpful and again, made my extension so easy. Sometimes you have to check out and back in and that wasn’t required. A quick tap of my phone and I was set. She also assisted me with getting a bandaid for a nasty burn I got in London a week prior. She cut up a larger bandaid for me that would fit my finger better and also so I would could reapply throughout the day. Small detail but It’s the little things. I felt safe, staying alone on that part of town and had the best interactions with the team members working.
Spaces:
My room, although on the smaller side had everything I needed. A bathtub, closet space, desk, bed, tv and credenza. I could see right down an adjoining street right off Dam square but I still felt as though I had privacy. Double lined curtains helped so I could sleep in. The temperature was perfect and the bed itself, very comfortable.
The lobby was spacious with plenty of seating and although I did not opt for the breakfast I checked it out and saw an abundance of options for diners.
Complimentary coffee is offered 12pm-10pm and there are vending machines with drinks, snacks and toiletries.
There are brochures and travel guides available at the front desk for site seeing.
If you’re looking for brand new fixtures and luxury upgraded aesthetics, Rho is not necessarily the first pic. What they lack in upgrades, they make up with real hospitality and the best location. My four friends and I all got our own hotels in different parts of Amsterdam and when they saw mine they said I had picked the best and I agreed!
I personally manage Luxury hotels- and it’s turned me into a bit of a critic but I would 100% stay at Rho Hotel again and highly recommend to all travelers.
