Just got back today from this hotel and this is my honest review. This hotel is walking distance from Amsterdam Centraal Station which was perfect for us and is centrally located ! We arrived to see building work being started & carried none of which we were notified about! We arrived at desk check in was quick , straight up to room as we arrived late due to delayed flight unfortunately! We wanted to settle in bed for some backround noise yet 1 channel in English with no means of watching anything so tv was redundant Now i now in this day and age streaming is massive so we could not watch anything with no way of destressing after a stressful time with flight delays etc plus a hotel & chain should cater for all nationalities like you do in your other hotels.
We got in dumped our bags headed out to explore then bk to a comfy sleep! Next morning we got up early 8 am not to return until late after room to change and back out again room had not been cleaned yet. Went out again for exploring amsterdam again to be approached less than a meter for the door by a gentlemen who was trying to ask us for cigarettes and would not leave us alone we had to try walk away he followed us for a bit! Unnerved us ! Next back to room ….this is were it goes down hill! The room had NOT been cleaned, general housekeeping tasks had NOT been completed, bins not empties, surfaces filthy, carpets were covered in stains, the ‘built in fridge’ filthy, the heat coming off that is not normal, dust ever were, bed sheets ripped! Bin so dirty, mirrors dirty! Kettle covered in dust , 2 guest in rooms only enough for 1 coffee each, rooms so hot, doors banging so load as there to loose and slam shut ! I was very disappointed for £525 for 2 night and a Hilton you'd expect general cleanliness to a higher standard! The pillows did not have protecters on them either very unhygenic! We left the room again to see signs put up that All trains to airport were cancelled because of works when I enquired how we get there I was told to google it!! I merely asked for assistance instead offered us and overcharged taxi of €70 when Uber it was €37 ! No seating area when checking out because of building works ones that were there were taken by large groups waiting so we ordered our taxi so we stood outside to again be approached for a cigarette when i declined because i don't smoke the young man stood and stared then verbally abused me ! I took a step back and went closer to front door again as i felt unsafe less than 1m from front door! We left this hotel being disappointed by the staffs attitude, lack of communication to customers, basic housekeeping for guest staying more than 1 night for the Hilton brand and price i was expecting this was below par and would not stay here again unless the rectified issues in General Housekeeping, Guest Safety, Communication and Better customer service .
