We were staying in Amsterdam for three nights, arriving by train, and wanted to get the most out of the experience. This hotel is ideal because it's only a few minutes walking from the main station and in the middle of the most touristy part of town. It was incredibly convenient and not expensive.
The rooms are very nice, but also very small. They're comfortable, but there isn't much room for luggage. Not a big deal if you're staying for a short while or don't mind shuffling stuff around. I don't remember noise ever being a problem for us, which is surprising considering its location. The staff was fine and the rooms were very clean. Depending on where your room is, there might be some stairs involved, so keep that in mind.
Down on the street, everything's super close. There's the main transportation hub (trains, trams, buses, boats), including the departing spot for many boat and bus tours. There's myriad shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, cheese shops, coffee shops, you name it. Everything within walking distance. It's an excellent launching point for your adventure in Amsterdam.
