We spent five nights at this fabulous apartment in September. I had not realised when I booked that it would be in the heart of the Red Light District and at first I was a little anxious as I thought that would mean that it would be very loud and seedy. But it wasn't. The apartment is above a cheese shop overlooking a canal and a bridge and it is literally the perfect location to get anywhere.
The apartment is on three levels - one bedroom and bathroom as you enter, main living, dining, kitchen on second level and main bedroom and bathroom on top floor. The only down side is the extremely steep stairs getting into the apartment and once you are inside. We managed fine and after the first day were used to it but it is not easy getting heavy suitcases in and out.
The only other downside would be the quality of the linen and towels. Towels were the size of hand towels and were not good quality. Linen was brown (a huge no - all rentals should have white linens!!!) and also not good quality. As were the pillows - something we find all over Europe. Only one pillow for each guest and very poor quality. As this apartment is charging luxurious prices one would expect a little more of the luxury finishing touches.
All that said, we loved our stay in Amsterdam and can't wait to get back there!
Just got back to reality after the best visit to the dam yet, the location of this place is perfect we walked all week and explored the best restaurants and coffee shops the dam has to offer. There were 4 of us on this trip and we all enjoyed the apartment, our top floor room was so spacious and is complete #bathroomgoals we were allowed in earlier and had some extra time added to our check out all thanks to the amazing Jamie we stayed in contact throughout the stay and nothing was too much trouble or so it seemed. I would recommend bringing a big towel with you or buying one from the primark as we did struggle with the size of the towels and new pillows in the top floor would make this place perfect. We ate in one night and brought lots of food to cook from Albert market and had a fabulous dinner party. The streets outside were always full of people exploring the red Light District near but once you shut the windows you are taken away from the noise. Would recommend this apartment specially for the added calf exercise. See you next year.
Our vacation started out great with Charlotte meeting us at apartment and going over everything. Location was fabulous although some evenings the noise carried on until 2-3am in the morning due to the proximity to an abundance of nightlife.
The apartment was very clean and although the layout was quirky, it worked out for my son and I to have our rooms on separate floors. The smaller bedroom with full bath is on the 3rd floor of the building which requires walking up 30 steps.
The next level is the living room and kitchen which is another floor up 14 additional steps. No bathroom on this floor which is strange but maybe normal in an old building. The master bedroom and bath is on the top floor which is up another 14 steep steps. This room is very spacious and the shower was very nice.
I thought the bed in master room was not so comfortable, pillows prob 10 years old and sheets a bit scratchy. At the minimum the landlord should consider getting new pillows and sheets.
This is a very nice rental and great if you want to be close to the action of the Red Light District. The unit is above a lovely cheese shop and on the corner of a busy intersection overlooking a canal. Might not be great for families with small children because of separation of bedrooms and steep stairs. The same for people with mobility issues.
The flat was great, well furnished, with lots of space and elegant design.0
It's in a very busy street in the heart of red district !
No cars, but can be quite noisy as lots of people go partying here ! Lots of steep stairs as well - as in many Amsterdam flats of course.
We had a very nice welcome from Charlotte and enjoyed our stay very much.
