Strategic location between Alkmaar central station and the city center, both are in about 500 mt walking distance. Friendly staff both at reception and breakfast. Two things I particularly appreciated:
1) the reception team had well noted my previous requests of having glutenfree breakfast as well as an early check at 1 pm and had my room key ready upon arrival, which was great
2) as during check out, the receptionist on duty was on the phone, another staff member stepped in and avoided long waiting time by checking me out.
If I go back to Alkmaar for hiking and need a hotel close to the station again, I will definitely consider staying at Amrath again.

The main reason of my review is for a staff member at reception that his name is John working on the 6th of October at 12 midnight , the hotel offers zero beverages in the room and when we asked to buy some bottled water he was very rude and declined to assist us , everything in Alkmar is closed at midnight and a simple request for water is not something out of the ordinary, he was very rude and spoke to us with an angry attitude. Will never stay here again with such unprofessional staff.

Dustiest hotel room I’ve ever stayed at. Even after dusting the room daily ourselves a layer of dust would form again.
Also four star hotel without airco or even a fan… mediocre breakfast with way too few places to sit.
Oh and if staff decides to go out for the night that is of course fine but wearing the skimpiest of outfits behind the reception is just not a good idea!
Oh and if you have something to celebrate, like a wedding anniversary and order flowers on the website, it will not show up for two days straight even after asking…
