Very interesting way to conserve a landmark: a former prison.
Solidly built of course, and a quality restoration to serve hospitably.
The location, on the park side of town, assures quiet. Huge parking lot. The rooms are adapted from two adjoining cells, with simple but all essential comfort.
The large breakfast space offers all you could desire. The dining room offers quality, and the bar is well stocked - also quality. Price: very reasonable.
In spite of the price we agreed for an arrangement with golf and dinner of €172,- we had to pay €187,78. Ik spend many emails to let them see that they were wrong, but they pretended that they had extra costs (?). It was really disappointing!
Room we booked smelled really bad and was super dusty. Reception gave us a different room on the same floor which also had a really bad smell. We then got another room, on a different floor. It was an upgrade for free, which was very nice.
There was mould in the shower though and the room was not clean. For the price you expect more of this hotel. Loud noises at night from other guest. Location is nice, walking distance to the city centre. Breakfast is expensive and crowded.
Staff is nice but would not recommended this hotel.
Lovely hotel stay. Wedding anniversary in Superior Room No.234 - but not very superior. Wallpaper falling from top of wall, revealing mould in more than one place. Noisy Air vents outside room. View was not great… Had to keep window closed overnight. Other than that, prison tour was great. Staff were absolutely awesome. Breakfast was THE best!! Beautiful area… shame about the big storm 2 days previous making the forest out of bounds. I would definitely recommend this hotel for people who have never been! But.. Fix the wallpaper!!
Amazing service and food. The guest experience was super sleeping in an old prison cel. We didnt book the prisontour but next time we will. Close to city center and beach. We rented bikes and went to the beach
