Beautiful rooms. Great atmosphere. Very friendly staff who was doing all they could to make my stay comfortable. Breakfast was perfect.

The room was not clean, we had 104 Junior Suite but a terrible bed. The bath with in-shower that was broken. Old towels, very small. The balcony was dirty. Overall nog a suite at all. Door lock was broken too. Very noisy, you can hear other guests. The breakfast was very poor. Overall a once in a lifetime visit.

Grand Hotel Alkmaar was a great stay and we are very happy to leave a 5 star rating.
The staff was very friendly and professional, the hotel is very authentic with lots of old dutch architecture features left, a very cosy bar and restaurant and the room was great.
Even though we did book the economy room, it did not feel economy at all. Very spacious, very well designed and contemporary, very clean (including the bathroom).
Would stay here ant time again and I can recommend it to any visitor looking to book here.
For visitors with a car, please be aware this hotel is in the city centre and there is no car parking facility direct with the car.
Room tip: car parking few hundred meters away from hotel.

Great location, very friendly staff - nice room.
The bathroom could do with a little update though - would be nice with a proper shelf for shampoo, lotions, etc. There’s only a sink and in the shower itself a little holder for soap..
Putting stuff on the floor is no option, because it will get extremely wet (everywhere..)
The combination faucet/sink hasn’t been thought through either, everything gets wet.
But apart from the question marks we had about the bathroom design, we would definitely recommend the hotel.

Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Ideally located in the city.
The room we had was very spacious, with a comfy bed, bathtub, double shower and a sauna.
The hotel offers an extensive breakfast buffet, and has a bar on site.
Some parts need to TLC, but overall a great stay!
