Stayed 2 nights over my wife’s birthday weekend with our dog. We were put in the bungalow (a 1960s bungalow built in the grounds of the hotel which I gather they normally let as self-catering family accommodation for which it seems ideal) which gave us bags of space and a fully equipped kitchen which we hadn’t expected.

The advantage of the bungalow with the dog was we could let him out in the enclosed garden of it morning and evening in our PJs without having to dress and traipse through the hotel. The bungalow itself is decorated eclectically with a mix of features from antiques to the 1980s style kitchen, ensuite and fitted bedroom units to the ultra modern main bathroom - it feels a bit like staying in your granny’s house especially with the ornaments and China plate collections but it’s warm and homely for it.

A highlight of staying here was the food. The breakfast menu offers full cooked breakfast along with quite an extensive continental selection of cheese and meats, fruit, yoghurts and pastries. We also ate both nights for dinner with the main menu and specials celebrating fresh produce, cooked well, with simple sauces and accompaniments which compliment the ‘star’ of the meal - for instance we both loved the plaice stuffed with prawns and scallops simply grilled with garlic butter. The wine list is well thought out and very reasonably priced. All the staff we encountered were eager to please and friendly.

So what do we feel could be improved? There seem to be a few maintenance issues creeping in the bungalow with many missing or non working bulbs in the lights (only 4 of the spotlights in the main bathroom were working for example), overflowing gutters full of grass and a slightly unkempt appearance to the whole place outside including the unsightly skip in the car park you look straight out on from the bistro conservatory. Also I was a little disappointed with my dessert as the sticky toffee pudding was burned on the top which wasn’t a nice flavour and there wasn’t enough of the sweet toffee sauce to make up for it - quite surprising considering how good all the other food was.

Overall would we go back - yes!
Would we recommend it - yes!

Visited here with family for the lunch and i couldn't fault it. Good value for money the food was definitely steps above pub grub. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and would definitely make another visit.

Visited Lamphey hall on the 6/9/18 got seated by a lovely young lady think her name was Shannon, she was very well trained and very polite. The food was served quickly and was the perfect temperature to eat. Me and my husband are very impressed by everything the food tasted amazing and our waitress Shannon was always there if we needed her. Will be visiting again

Have never stayed here but have eaten on virtually every occasion we've been down in Pembrokeshire as the food is just so predictably good. Recommend the Liver pate for starters and both the Lasagne and the cod goujons as mains.

The pool and gym have been recently refurbished and are lovely. Rooms here are quite dated and you have to ring reception to get your radiators to come on! Ensuites also very dated. However if you are looking for a fairly comfortable base to go and have days out it’s great! Breakfast is not the greatest either. Pretty limited choices on the help yourself.
You can order 4 different cooked breakfasts. Don’t expect eggs benedict though!
On the whole we had a good stay and it acted as a good base to go out and about from for our 4 day stay. It’s close to lots of great coastlines and fun family day out spots.
