Quirky hotel in a central location but with some downsides

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Jul 2024via mobile
Stayed in this hotel for three nights in July ‘24. The hotel is comfortable, well-equipped and is in a good location.

Pros:
*Central location within walking distance of main train station and with several bus routes nearby.
*Spacious rooms, comfortable bed.
*Nice sauna and fitness area on 7th floor.
*Modern, interesting decor.

Cons:
*Crazy price of breakfast … 36 CHF per day!
*Lack of lounge areas - the seating areas are heavily focused towards bar customers rather than hotel guests.
*Layout of shower which is in the bedroom.
*Air-con not very effective.
*Overall it’s a pricey hotel.

the best choice! the hotel it’s really nice, staff is amazing. I can’t understand why people say that it’s noisy, was noisy at first because I let the window open lol but when I closed it become silent and perfect to sleep. The restaurant it’s also amazing! I asked for a late checkout and they allowed it without any additional cost

25 hours Hotel
Zurich, Switzerland
June 28-30, 2024

The hotel is located near the train station. It is about 650 meters from the train station. Very convenient if you are taking the train. The receptionist was helpful and efficient. The room was very clean and bedlinens were clean and dust free which we really appreciated. However, the hotel needs new towels. They were clean but new ones are needed to keep a high standard. 🤗Moreover, the bathroom was also very clean with the essential amenities. Breakfast was fantastic for us because we could have eggs made according to our wishes (sunny side up eggs or omelette) and having cappucino. It has all the necessary breakfast food selections.

Overall impression
Highly recommended!

This was an interesting hotel, different from others that's for sure. It felt like a hostel with the sink and shower room opposite the bed, I booked the hotel via booking.com, so this was not really mentioned! I'm aware they want to be unique, but it was just not for me. Although this is my own opinion, I'm sure others love it which is great.

The good:
- Bed was great, sqeeky a little.
- Minibar was free (we only had 2 drinks in 2 days).
- Had a great 6th floor view of the train station and the city. Had a drink sitting on the bench overlooking the city at night was great.
- Big window and very quiet even with the train station was opposite the hotel.
- Mini supermarket near by for any needs.

The bad:
- Hostel feel room, split sink, toilet and shower.
- Shower with see through glass opposite the bed (not even 2 feet away) and can see someone taking a shower!
- Floor had cracks when waking into the shower.
- Ceiling looks incomplete.

Overall, a nice stay next to the station with easy access and a comfortable bed, however, it was just not for me.
- No tea and no kettle in the room.

I am sitting on the floor of my room right now. It is 3am. The room overlooks the switching yard for Zurich HB with a single window that opens just wide enough to hear all of the noise on the street (and at 3am on a Monday morning, there is plenty) but not wide enough to let enough air into the room to cool it down from a relatively mild 25C (77F) day. The breaking point for me was when my wife called down for a couple of extra pillows and a fan, and we waited for an hour with no response, then had dinner at Neni (the restaurant in the lobby), and then went to the front desk to ask about our request, only to be told that there were no more fans (with an air that it was foolish for us to have asked). Cute as the lobby is, this hotel is terrible. I have gone through the trouble to rebook the rest of my rather short 3-day trip in another hotel that has AC. There are also a lot of prostitutes and drug dealers in the immediate neighborhood. Not the fault of the hotel, but it is definitely part of the neighborhood. Just do a quick google search on Zurich Langstrasse Red Light District. The 25 hours comes up on the first page of results.
