My wife and I were married at the Riffelalp chapel next to the hotel and had the reception afterwards at the hotel. The manager was exceptional as was all the wait staff. The best compliment I can give is what my wife told me, “I could not ask for anything better - the day was perfect!”

Riffelalp is Europe’s highest five-star resort located at 2,222 m with spectacular views of the Matterhorn mountain. The journey to the hotel starts with an exciting 20-minute ride on the Gornergrat train. At a station, a friendly porter Dragan will welcome you and take care of your luggage and help you get on the train. The train ride itself is beautiful with incredible views of the mountains and the city of Zermatt. Once you arrive at your final station called Riffelalp another porter will welcome you, take care of your luggage and transfer it to the hotel. You can choose to walk to the hotel (around 5min) or take a drive with a snowmobile to the doorsteps.

The room was cozy and lovely decorated. It was a bit small but had everything we needed. A large king size bed with leather headboards, small desk, a beautiful stone-and-wood bathroom with shower and Loccitane amenities. Besides the normal amenities, like bathrobes, slippers, and free internet connection, the room was equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine, remote control lighting and Smart-TV. Most rooms have the balcony and if you are lucky you will get that spectacular Matterhorn view right from the comfort of your room.

There are many dining options if you are staying at the Riffelalp Resort. The breakfast is served in the main restaurant Alexandre with spectacular views of the Matterhorn mountain. Alongside a well-stocked continental buffet, there are freshly squeezed juices and a separate omelet station where you can order freshly prepared eggs with all sorts of add-ons. By day, you can enjoy your time on the terrace of Mark Twain Lounge The menu consist of tapas, paninis, and burgers. If you wish to have a proper lunch then head out to Restaurant Al Bosco that serves Swiss-Italian dishes for lunch and dinner. At the restaurant Walliserkeller, you will find regional Swiss cuisine served from the open fire. Local specialties like cheese fondue, Raclette and meat dishes are served here. In addition to the diversified cuisine at Riffelalp, there is a special Wine & Dine option that brings culinary variety with a grand choice of 15 restaurants and dining rooms in Zermatt!

The hotel itself offers different winter and summer activities that are guided by Yann. He will prepare different ski excursion to Cervinia or Valtournenche, heliskiing for more adventures guests, glacier downhill skiing, ski tours, snowshoeing, hiking and more. If you want to spend your day at the hotel then you can visit Europe’s highest outdoor pool and spa area, book a massage, have fun at billiards or even go bowling.

The Riffelalp Hotel offers everything you desire and the stay here will always stay unforgettable.

There has been a lot of snow this season in Zermatt. We managed to reach the Riffelalp Hotel just in time before the closure of the Gornergrat railway for several days after. It was the second time in 3 weeks that Riffelalp and Zermatt were snowed in. For a number of days the only means to and from Zermatt from Täsch was by helicopter. As a consequence of the heavy snowfalls and avalanche risk, the pistes were closed for the first 2 days of our stay. If you’re going to be snowed in, the Riffelalp is probably the best place for this! We spent the time at the hotel spa...it includes Europe’s highest outdoor swimming pool, heated to 35 degrees. It was a unique experience swimming in the snow!
The service at the hotel is very traditional and professional but not stuffy. The concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful given the unusually heavy snow conditions, assisting us with special arrangements for arrival and departure. The restaurants were great, including for the buffet breakfast and the bar was a relaxing place to lounge in the afternoon or evening.
The room we had was small but very well designed and included plenty of storage.
I am looking forward to returning!

Our family stayed in Riffelalp many times since 2005 for school New Year vacations but this time we decided to also come in summer - to find out Zermatt and Riffelalp as as great in summer as in winter.
Somehow management and employees combine the atmosphere of the luxury 5- star hotel with real friendliness and personal attitude - not only from Reception and restaurants' staff but practically from everyone.
The hotel certainly has all amenities "due" to the luxury hotel - several restaurants, small gym, nice open swimming pool + bigger inside one and SPA but for me the best thing is the feeling that everyone wants you to feel good.
Only concern - the hotel is located way above Zermatt accessible by train (or walking / skiing) so if you have serious health problems which may occur suddenly, this may be not an ideal place to stay. In foggy weather or heavy snow the train service may stop.

Room Tip: If rooms with Matterhorn view are not available - do not get upset, all the views are spectacular

We have just returned from a most wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. From the initial welcome at the Zermatt railway station, where our luggage was whisked away, until our final departure the service was impeccable. Always sincere, professional and attentive.
Our room with a view of the Matterhorn was luxurious, comfortable and equipped with every facility the modern traveller requires. It was so pleasant that it was very difficult to leave every morning.
We took advantage of the half-board package and ate both in the hotel and at the Mont Cervin hotel in the village. All meals were excellent and the service discreet and charming.
The wellness centre was a great place to relax after a hard day of skiing with its heated outdoor pool/jacuzzi and there is a lovely bar offering soothing live music both before and after dinner.
The hotel's location is also a huge asset. Close enough to the village by the charming train if you want to shop etc. but also ski-in/ski-out for convenience.
What more can I say, except that I can't wait to return to this heavenly hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent.
