Owner description: The Rhine Falls, the biggest waterfall in Europe, offer the visitors a spectacular sight! 17,000 years ago this impressive wonder of nature was formed and is now the main attraction for countless visitors from all over the world. Over a width of 150 metres and a height of 23 metres, an average of 700,000 litres of water cascade over the rocks every second. A boat ride to the famous rock in the middle of the Falls and the short walk to the top, is an unforgettable experience for every visitor.

We went most recently in April when the falls were in full action. No need to go on a boat! Pay the 5 francs (at the castle) and you can get so close to the falls it feels like you’ll be swallowed by it! The Rhine Falls drinking water was also a must try.

Have gone to the Rhine Falls a few times over the years. Last weekend I went early, off at 6.30 from Basel and when we arrived we were so early that we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.
I usually like to do the full circle, from the entrance up from the train station right around by the tourists shops and further on the little walk along the river up-to the bridge off the distance and across and back to the actual falls themselves. Takes about a slow 2 hours to do that lovely little walk, where you get to see the falls from all angles and get a nice walk too. When I did it before I also went in for a dip in the Rhine with my son, but as it was so cold it took us well over 20 minutes to get over the temperature, but man was it refreshing after.
Rhine Falls is well worth a visit, and a great place to bring guests who are visiting the country. The place is well structured with lots of perfect view points, a lift for the slow of walking or for those who cant make the climbs, and a train station on the falls themselves!
There is also a nice castle to see at the top.

I'm completely mesmerized by the view. Went there with my colleague. Bought the ticket on the spot. No need to book earlier I think. The small boat bring us to the center. We climb the top and it is marvelous.

Great photo opportunities here! 5€ to get in where you can almost touch the falls with your hands. You can fell the power of the falls as water rushes pass you. Looking forward to revisit this winter.
