This is an old bare bones classic hotel. Everything was ok. What really shines is the location. Easy walking distance from the train station and major attractions. It is in an amazing neighborhood. We found Pisa underrated by travel books. The college vibe, the river, plus ancient surroundings made Pisa as enjoyable as other top Italian cities.

The bonus to this property is it's central location, about 6 minutes by taxi from the airport, 4 minutes from the central station, and about 15-20 minutes walk to the Tower, Baptistery, and Cathedral. Somewhat dated, and in need of a little TLC, it provides a comfortable and clean place to sleep, perfect for a city break. The breakfast is very limited, but the staff are friendly, and there are great places to eat nearby.

We were only staying in Pisa for one night en route to Florence and just needed somewhere cheap and cheerful, the Hotel Minerva whilst not being the poshest hotel in Pisa certainly was the most welcoming, close to all the local attractions but the main thing i will remember from our stay was how helpful Rita and John were throughout our stay giving us advice on how to get anywhere, what to see, best times etc which on a quick visit was invaluable.

We stayed one night in this hotel. It is very clean and spacious. It is an older hotel so it looks a little tired, but I don't mind this as long as it is clean. We faced the street so found the traffic a little noisy, but it was a Friday night. The breakfast was fantastic! Great assortment of food, including cereals, proteins, breads and coffee. When we checked in, the lady at the front desk was wonderful!! She spoke excellent English and gave us an overview of the city and lots of tourist advice. This was very helpful. For the price, this is an excellent place to stay.

This is an excellent budget hotel within easy walking distance of all major attractions in Pisa. I particularly liked the location on the south side of the Arno river, which means you are removed from the main tourist area but still only a short stroll from the train station, shopping district and a range of excellent (and not touristy) restaurants. I particularly enjoyed having breakfast in the garden and being able to watch Italian street life through the large windows from my room.
