Arrived in livorno Italy by car with no booking, whilst walking around admiring the sights/shops we found this hotel on the Via Grande and asked for their room rates and if they could provide off street parking. 65 euro/night and 10 euro for secure lock up underground parking just 50 meters from the hotel. They even let us go and inspect the room before we booked in. The room was very clean and nicely appointed. Free WiFi is available, reception is manned 24hrs and staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke reasonable English. As you exit the hotel and turn left you will find a variety of shops and department stores and just down from the hotel a great Cafe with the best lady owner. We ordered some coffee and food in poor Italian and she was so thrilled that we attempted to speak her language that she gave us an impromptu lesson full of laughter and ended up giving us free pastries to sample. This is a very good value hotel in a great central location with friendly helpful staff....what more could you want!

Room was clean, staff helpful at desk and breakfast was good enough. Wifi worked and so did the air con.

Quite noisy as it is such a central location but, from the other hotels I saw this one has the best location.

However it is Livorno that is questionable. Bit of a dump and a waste of time...walked round it in a couple of hours and left for Pisa.

: )

We needed one-night stay before leaving for Sardinia 8am, so I looked for a decent hotel not too far from the port.
Reserver 4-bed room, the room had 3 beds only. According to the receptionist there should have been an additional bed below the other one, but there wasn't. Easy as that. So we had to split in two different rooms (very bad with small kids).
Rooms are old; you do not recognise that just from the furniture style, rather from the lack of maintenance.
One elevator only, slow, and with door (you need to pus the door out, no automatic sliding doors). In rush hours be ready to wait long time until you get it.

Parking is not in the Hotel, is is a block further. You need to walk few hundreds meters outdoor, and depending on the parking place assigned you might need to go through stairs (get your laggage first!).
Parking is not easy if you have a big car (expecially if you have a large car). Mine is 185cm large and really it was difficult for me to open the door to get out from it.

Probably at certain point you just need to renew the Hotel. Nowadays there is Internet and Tripadvisor, so you should not hope that people just "do not know" that the hotel is bad.

Position is in the center, although I doubt you stay there just to visit the center of Livorno. It is much nicer, I think, to go far from the see (in San Miniato, for example).

Breakfast is simple, the lady at the breakfast lounge was very kind and useful.

I found Hotels in Livorno are not cheap at all. Next time I would just avoid to take a boat from Livorno as much as possible, or to leave later in the day so tat I have the time to drive to Livorno from a nicer place.
