“What an amazing family break!”

We traveled to this historic house in June as a group of 7 adults and a baby. None of the pictures taken do it true justice. It is a fortified building complete with dry moat and high ceilings. The latter keeps it cool during the day. Of course as an historic building you do not get hotel 'luxury', but all the facilities we needed were there. Mario was a great host with everything from local advice to a bucket of oranges for breakfast. For our nipper Mario provided highchair, cot, plates & cutlery.

Locally we found great beaches, beautiful towns, breathtaking history and breathtaking driving! If you are going to drive be prepared to switch on 'London cabbie mode' from onset!

Must not forget mentioning the delicious food available in the restaurant which adjoins the house complete with its delightful staff. Note the restaurant and boutique hotel opposite overlook the garden area of the house. While making this a 30 second walk to supper, it also makes your garden public domain. The Trip Advisor pictures do not really show this.

On a clear day you have a view of Etna from the roof terrace!.

If you are looking for an escape from the everyday this is for you.

“Make Yourself at Home in this Country Castle”
Reviewed 22 November 2016 for a stay in November 2016

Castle Fradama was exactly what we were looking for on our first trip to Sicily. Surrounded by orange grooves, artichokes and lettuce, it was still close enough to Siracusa for access to Ortigia and other sights. Mario was a helpful host, making sure this 15th century manor house was well stocked with the essentials. We rattled around in this big old place and enjoyed warm wood fires every evening. The four of us used the house to visit the sights of southwest Sicily including Ortigia, Ragusa, Noto, Scicli and Agrigento. Visiting in November was nice because of a lack of heat and crowds, but be prepared for some rain and for restaurants to be closed. Overall, worth the tradeoff. Also, internet connectivity was a bit of a problem, although Mario said they would be installing a new system. Franco was also extremely helpful supplying wood and other needs. Also, enjoyed the two local dogs who greeted every morning on the front porch.

“Magical Castle”
Reviewed 26 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Our stay was magical with beautiful gardens surrounding the castle - farmhouse. Rooms are spacious and the kitchen was very well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses and everything you could possibly need, including enough food to have a wonderful breakfast the first morning of our arrival. Be sure to plan time to enjoy exploring every nook and cranny of the home and grounds as there is a lot of history portrayed in the paintings and decor. We could have been very happy staying onsite and never leaving the castle. The inside is kept pretty much to the historical time period when the castle was built, so understand it could be damp and drafty (we visited in October and the weather was warm and dry). The stairs are original and steep, 2 bedrooms were on the first floor and two were on the second floor. The two upstairs bedrooms have a shared bathroom, the first floor rooms have their own baths. There is also a half bath on the first floor. There is a turret on the roof where you can climb and take pictures of the beautiful surroundings. You can see the ocean from there. There are many areas to walk along the grounds including what was once the moat, and the surrounding farm. There is a B&B that is located on the same property that has an onsite restaurant (we didn't have a chance to try the restaurant). Mario was very gracious and we hope to be able to return some day.

“As Good As It Gets!”
Reviewed 27 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Well, If you don't think it would be awesome to spend some time in your own private castle amongst orange and olive groves in Sicily, then this may not be the place for you, but for my husband and I and our two friends, this place was a dream come true! Mario & Liliana have made sure that the house is well stocked with anything you might need during your stay, including staples in the fridge when you arrive. The house is well situated for many day trips, although you may find it hard to leave your surroundings. We were only able to reserve Casa fra Dama for three days due to our schedule- would love to have stayed longer- maybe next time!

“Just perfect from A to Z”

We (two familys with four adults and three kids) had a super great time. The house has everything you need, from a well equiped kitchen to even a first aid box with plasters. It is a beautiful place full of history but also with big walls out of stone. Be sure to have some warmer cloth with you, so you can have long evening chats in the kitchen or in front of the open fire in the living room. We felt at home right away. The garden is big enough for great bbq evenings or leasure moments with a book during the day.

The surrounding area is amazing. You can do everything from visiting cultural sites to enjoying beautiful beaches. As we were there during off season we could enjoy Sicily without a lot of tourists which we experienced as an advantage.

The owner Mario and his sister Liliana were extremely helpful with everything. They checked the best beaches for us and gave us ideas for daytrips. Franco and his wife, living at the farm, were also a very big help. Thanks to them we had firewood every evening and fresh oranges in the morning.

We can deeply recommend the place for a long holiday together with friends and family. It is garanted that you will enjoy your stay. Many thanks fort he two beatuful weeks.
