We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days, the place is wonderful. There is included a beautiful swimming pool and there are some point from you can see beautiful sunset. The restaurant is very chic, a little but a little bit expensive. The breakfast is very rich from salt to sweet plates!
Near the old theatre...approved!

The Hotel Villa Politi is a lovely, traditional hotel. Although it is a twenty minute walk from the town of Siracusa, the hotel offers good facilities. The staff are warm, friendly and very helpful. Food is great and our room was an excellent size with a super balcony! I would highly recommend a stay here for a very comfortable break!!

Room tip: Ask for a room facing the town!

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Facilities are good and location is good if your boring a car or using a taxi.

Pool is excellent and on site restaurant is very good, with a fine choice of local dishes and wine.

If we could change anything, we would have booked a Superior Room, the Classic rooms are very cosy and compact.

This hotel is lovely. The staff are friendly, knowledgable and really helpful. The rooms are huge. We had a corner room - ok, the view over the bins on one side wasn't great, but the view from the other window gave me the sea - at a distance - . I shut the shutters on the bins, so it didn't worry me. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom lovely. Breakfast was in the dining room and catered for just about every need. Sweet, savoury, excellent coffee - ask for a double espresson and a large cup - I'm one of those very peculair people that the Italians and Sicilians laugh at (not unkindly). I like, what they would describe as an American coffee; but I don't like too much hot water and I have cold milk, so it's just easier to make my own, using a really good double espresso. - I have to admit, that I did try the coffee machine and it wasn't terrible, but personally I like it made fresh. Ask the Head waiter or any member of dining room staff and they will make you a fresh one. - What I love about Italians, and now Sicilians is that they smile at me, laugh at my peculair ways and don't in any way make me feel as though I'm odd, even if I am.

The downside. I chose this hotel, purely for itself, this was my mistake. It looked lovely on the advertising and really was! Unfortunately, it was a really long way from the island of Ortigia, which I wanted to visit and most of the historical sites were at least 15 minutes walk away. Ortigia itself, was a good 30 minute walk, downhill, even for a fit person - beleive me I walk a great deal on holiday, usually. Coming back it took 30 - 35 minutes and in April - 26 degrees on two of the four days we were on the island -, it was a little warm. I can't imagine what it would be like in the 40 degree heat of July/ August. The other problem with this hotel is the area in which it is located. No, it isn't the hotel's fault and they can do nothing about it, unless they invest in upgrading local properties and clear away the dog mess. The area is extremely rundown. It is such a shame, as it could be lovely. I get the impression that money is being spent on the area, but there are many abandoned, or disintegrating properties and unfortunately, it doesn'r make for a pleasant area.

Would I stay here again? Well, it would edepend on what I was looking for from a holiday. If I was on a coach tour - there were many who were staying in the hotel on either German or Italian coach tours of the island - and I was being ferried about, I certainly would. If all I wanted to do was laze by a lovely pool for a week, yes I would. However, for me I want to do a lot of site seeing and personally I would stay further towards Ortigia island, even though most hotels, pensionnes and b & b's don't have a pool or are very small.

In summary: lovely hotel in a poor part of Siracusa with a lot going for it, except location.

: ) I thank all our Guests, especially when they dedicate their precious time to write about us. And I thank you for choosing us! The main feature which makes Grand Hotel Villa Politi unique, is our position: overlooking the Latomie, looking towards the sea, inside a great park in Siracusa Archeological area. We are a great alternative for those who do not want to choose “old Ortigia”, who wants to relax in our seaside solarium or in our large swimming pool, far away from the touristic chaos, having to listen only the birds singing… sipping a cocktail in our veranda and enjoying our wonderful cuisine which shows starting from our rich and healthy breakfast. Only a few steps away from the Archeological Museum and the Greek Theater… and with the Town Shuttle, which stops right in front of the Hotel, with just € 1,00 you can reach Ortigia. WE FROM GRAND HOTEL VILLA POLITI ASPIRE TO BE AN ISLAND OF CUDDLES AND RELAX… outside our gates you will find Siracusa, with its contradiction but always wonderfully unique. COME TO SIRACUSA, NOT AS “TOURISTS”, BUT AS TRAVELLERS : ) we will wait to cuddle you!
