Palace exhibits are quite nice as wall as the star attraction chapel. The gardens are well worth it. Interesting plants although green houses were largely empty (November). Overall this site is rightly a must see on a short break in Palermo

To see a place that is entirely covered in mosaic, with amazing detail and beauty, makes for an almost undescribable experience. The preservation of the building, the remarkable mosaics, and the exquisite beauty, were among the best we have ever seen in all our travels. If you are in Palermo, this is absolutely the one "no-to-miss" place!

The Palazzo Reale complex houses the Norman Palace, Cappella Palatina "Palatine Chapel" and Gardens complex. Combination tickets are available and the lines tend to be long, so pre-book to save time. The Cappella Palatina is the highlight of this complex. However, in the lower level there is an interesting St. Rosalie "Patron Saint of Palermo" exhibit. If time is short in Palermo, this complex could be missed and other venues like La Martarana, Santa Catherina, and Palazzo Abatellis should be not be missed in my opinion.

Frustratingly, you can't buy tickets at the entrance - you have to go to the booth a little way down in the gardens and get them there. Tickets are for various parts of the facility, so make sure you are buying for what you want to see. The apartments were closed when I was there, but I visited the garden, the special Santa Rosalia exhibition and the chapel. I could have spent an hour in the chapel alone. The mosaics are incredible! Don't forget to look at the floors as well as the ceilings and the walls. There's a nice little gift shop on the way out with upmarket merchandise. This was the cleanest, most well-presented attraction I visited in Palermo.

I wish we had more time to see it and I wish the gardens were open (it was raining) but definitely worth the €10 entry. There’s many discounts available so look before you buy!
