“The appartment was below my expectations”
Reviewed 10 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The appartment is a bit small for 3 adults and a kid, particularly the kitchen, which is not well equipped. WiFi connection is poor and only works in the fantastic terrace where we had lovely breakfasts. The upper bedroom is too high and thus close to the ceiling. In summertime it is very hot and A/C is needed all night long (or else the windows needs to be open by night but then the neighbors will awake you early in the mornings when they take their cars and motorbikes from the yard in front of the windows). The bathroom is a bit too narrow. The elevator does not work for this first floor where the appartment is located, which is not terrible but neither practical when carrying your own luggage. The area is centyric and safe, also for the car.

I AM HAPPY THAT YOU LIKED LEAST BE THE TERRACE , THE APARTMENT IS WELL DESCRIBED AND VISIBLE IN PHOTOS THEN WHEN THEY NEED MORE SPACE TO CHOOSE AN APARTMENT BIGGEST Without disregarding WHAT YOU HAVE CHOSEN .

“Good location as a pied à terre”
Reviewed 15 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We had an enjoyable week using this as a base from which to go exploring (from Taormina to Ragusa and Siracusa).
The apartment is really well situated, being only 10 mins walk from the train/bus station, Duomo and port/bus station. The block itself forms 4 sides round a central courtyard, and the whole lot is accessed via a huge coach door, so is very secure. The apartment is separate from (but was probably originally part of) the owner's flat and both share a large terrace area, each with the own separate, screened off areas, and front doors.
A few thoughts for consideration: although you can sleep up to 5 people in there, we thought it would be really crowded. One bed is on an open mezzanine above the main kitchen/living area (also where the sofa bed is) and the other is next to the bathroom (so you have to go through the bedroom if you want the toilet in the night!) With two of us, it wasn't an issue, but worth knowing about. If you're tall, standing up on the mezz is also interesting! There is a small table in the living area which was fine for 2 people, but would be quite tight for 4. There is, however, a small table and 4 chairs on the terrace outside. The bathroom mentions a tub, but there is a shower, toilet, bidet and basin (no bath). We found that you had to run the hot tap for several minutes to get hot water - again not an issue if you're there in warmer months. Lastly, in this part, the key to the outside coach door takes a bit of getting used to: ask Rosa or her husband to show you how it works when you get there!
Rosa was there to meet us and had kindly left bottled water in the fridge and some croissants for our breakfast the next day; other than that, we didn't see her. I'd suggest you let her know on arrival when you're planning on leaving so you can arrange where to leave the key as she's not always around.
The flat is very secure and we found it nice and quiet. Whilst it wasn't warm enough to sit on the terrace in April, we opened the living area balcony doors and sat just indoors so we could get the sun but keep out of the wind! For info, you can also hang washing/towels out to dry on the line there.
Generally speaking, you are only a few mins walk away from everything. There's a little mini-market close by. Turn right out of the coach door, cross over at the top of the road and just behind the little square you'll find the shop on the corner. There is also a larger supermarket on Corso Sicilia (10 mins) but if you want to buy fresh food go to the fish market (also sells meat, fruit, veg, etc) near the bus station/port - out of the gate by the Duomo.
The Alibus goes from Catania airport into town - 4 euros for the ticket (either on the bus or at a kiosk at the airport by the buses). The easiest stop to get off at on the way in is the train/bus station (there are two bus stations!) and then walk down Via VI Aprile and turn right on to the Via Antonio di Sanguiliano. When you get to the trees on the right, your turning is opposite! To get the airport bus back again, turn left out of the block and down to Via Vittoria Emmanuele II, turn left and the bus stop is just ahead of you (less than 5 mins walk!)
Best advice - print off a detailed map of the area to take with you, and pick up a better one at the Tourist Information office near the Duomo asap. And ... if you get a good view of Etna, take the photo then - it disappears quite often!
Enjoy!

“Cozy and convenient”
Reviewed 11 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

A nice little apartment located central city, convenient walk from train station and bus stations as well. Lovely high ceilings. Second bedroom is loft type while bathroom is only accessed through first floor bedroom, a small disadvantage for those sleeping in loft. Nice functional kitchen-main room combination, all quite attractive. Terrace would be fun in the warm weather. Internet is sketchy and slow. Overall, decent price value and location perfect for our needs.

“...unforgettable stay with some reservations”
Reviewed 30 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Unique flat-very artistic interior, a big terrace, well equipped kitchen, air-condition, good location, close to the train and bus stations and one stone throw to Catania centre.
On the other hand-the landlord hardly speaks English, not very helpful re information, during our stay for 10 nights she did not bother to change our towels at all. Did not contact us to see how we were doing.

On the whole I am writing a positive feedback as Sicily is amazing place to visit.

“Excellent accommodation in Central Catania”
Reviewed 30 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Thoroughly recommended. The apartment is within an older building, overlooking a central courtyard. It is very quiet indeed, considering the location, and thoroughly secure. Ten minutes walk from the Duomo on the one hand and the Central Station and Bus Station on the other, so perfectly placed for exploring Catania and surrounding area. Good accommodation though perhaps the shower could do with a bit of upgrading. Really nice owner who has a flat next door, but is out working most of the time.

The map on the site is inaccurate - the property is nowhere near indicated! In fact the location is MUCH more convenient than the map suggests
