We ate with friends here after an evening at the military theater in Vicenza. The staff spoke enough English to understand our order and each menu item had an English explanation of its Italian contents. We all had different pizzas and all were excellent thin crust examples of the northern Italian variety. They have Italian and German beer, red and white wine, firm and sparkling water, excellent coffee and limoncello. We look forward to returning there after our next theater outing and will also take visitors who would appreciate a friendly home eating experience.

My husband and I went here for a casual date night. The food was great and the prices were also great. We ordered 2 primis, 1 secondi, 1 dessert, a liter of wine, and a liter of water, and it was only 40 euro. We will go back.

We have visited The Al Fornareto several times during our visits to Vicenza. It is a small and friendly little restaurant that is open at lunch times and in the evenings. One of the advantages is that it is just a short 5 minute walk from the Teatro Olimpico and outside of the main tourist area. The food is freshly prepared with some pride. One of the dishes that stands in my memory is the fried cuttlefish rings – a dish that can so easily go wrong, but it was light and perfectly cooked- I could have eaten several plates full as my main meal! Equally well prepared and presented is more traditional Italian fare such as Baclava (dried Cod with Polenta). Pasta dishes and of course speciality Pizzas with seasonal toppings. It is a family run business and the owner speaks English. It is frequented by the local Italians- always a good sign and you won’t have to take out a second mortgage to eat there. A little gem.

My husband and I have started frequenting this pizzeria in Vicenza after it was recommended to us by one of our Italian neighbors. I've heard you can tell a place is good by whether locals eat there or not. That's definitely the case with Al Fornareto! Great pizza, great price, great atmosphere and they really make you feel welcome. We really enjoy taking our friends there. It's quickly becoming our favorite pizzeria in town!

I have eaten here many times for lunch and also dinner. The quality of food for the price is absolutely excelllent. The restaurant offers a fixed price menu of 10 euro for lunch. Dishes are changed daily and also appropriate for the season.

Every friday they offer several seafood choices as well. The spaghetti with seafood (frutti di mare) and fried calamari (frittura) are OUTSTANDING!! It is one of the few restaurants in Vicenza that also offers a small salad bar (or buffet) duing the lunch service. As mentioned in other reviews, the pizza served in the evening is also excellent.

The owners and staff are such pleasant and friendly people. They obviously take pride in their restaurant and their service. They all work very hard to make sure you are happy. It is a pleasure to eat here!!! Complementi!!!
