There is the university area of Venice. It is not touristy and is much quieter which is nice and still has amazing views of the lagoon and St. Mark's Square from the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. It was nice to just walk along the southern part of Venice along the water.

It's just so quaint! There are so many wonderful restaurants and shops and the best gelato place ever, Nico's, right on the waterway! Enjoy!

Nice district to visit. Lovely area to escape the crowds of the more popular tourist spots. Lots of opportunity to walk adjacent to the canals here, and the long promenade along Fondamenta Zattere looking over the lagoon. Restaurants on stilts over the water. We walked to the Rialto bridge from here, lovely peaceful walk and nearly all waterside.

Great area to wander around. Lots of great window-shopping, restaurants, palazzos, galleries...
Take the vaporetto across to Santa Maria della Salute and then walk up toward the Rialto, stopping for espresso or cold beer as needed.
