“excellent property and great owner”

We just got back from Venice and really enjoyed our stay at the Armonia apartment in Cannaregio. I traveled with my husband and 5 1/2 month baby.

Guido, the owner was really great about keeping us informed and very quick to respond to all of my emails. He was unable to meet us on the day we arrived, so we greeted by his friend Teresa, who was really nice. She met us at the bus station and walked with us to the apartment where we had a bottle of prosecco and cake waiting for us. Guido had left a map with some recommendations of some nice restaurants in the neighborhood and Teresa briefly showed us a couple things close by. On the day we were leaving, Guido said we could leave our bags after checkout time since we had a late flight. We came back to get our bags and he was there. The baby was really hot, so we sat in the apartment for a while and chatted while he played with the baby. Since we had more time to kill and the next guests weren't coming until later, he took us around the area for a bit of history, which was very interesting. We also had mentioned upon meeting him that we really liked the prosecco he left for us and he sent us home with another bottle! Guido really seemed to care about his guests and the quality of stay for them as well.

This apartment was perfect for us. It was modern, clean and spacious, and air conditioned ( which was so great since it was incredibly hot and there was a unit upstairs in the bedroom and downstairs in the living area) We were pleasantly surprised that it was located on the ground floor, so there were no steps to deal with. We brought our stroller for the baby and had to carry it over two bridges to get to the apartment from the bus station. There are other ways to get there, this was just the way we were taken on the first day. It was also very secure. There were locked gates to go through to get into the building where there apartment was.

There was a bathtub and shower downstairs so we could give our baby a bath and a shower in the en suite upstairs for us. We were also provided with a very nice cot for the baby. The bed upstairs was king size which is what we have at home, so that was nice. The kitchen seemed fully stocked, although we didn't cook in. We just used the fridge for drinks and for baby stuff. There was a possibility that another couple was going to join us when we were booking this apartment. If they had come, we would have had plenty of space since the couch turned into a double bed.

I really liked the location of the apartment. It's in the area of Cannaregio which was nice and quiet and much less touristy than other areas. It still has a lot of great restaurants and close enough to get to all the attractions. It also easy if you decide to take a waterbus to the other islands like Murano and Burano, since it's a little closer than if you were staying in San Marco. If you feel like staying closer to some of the tourist areas, Guido mentioned he is working on a couple of apartments very close to Rialto. If they are anything like his place in Cannaregio, they will be very nice, so keep a look out for those. I think he is hoping to have them ready by September.

“Wonderful and hospitable owner”

When we came to Venice, Guido - the owner of the appartment, met us at Piazza del Roma, where all the airport buses arrive and helped us with the luggage. He showed the way, explained how to use keys and what was most exciting - made a personal tour around Venice for us. He studied the history of Venice, so it was really interesting to learn about some buildings and their history.
Besides Guido recommended some great places where we could have dinner and welcomed us in the appartment with wine and cake - it was so sweet! The appartment was even better than we expected - automated smart windows, great wifi connection, ability to cook by ourselves, location and option to exit for different sides of the appartment - you will hardly find anything better.
The appartment is close to both Santa Lucia railway station and bus station that is very comfortable if you are planning to travel somewhere from Venice. I highly recommend it to all visitors - best choice for reasonable money.

“Excellent accommodation option for Venice”

We stayed at Armonia Apartments in May 2013 and very much enjoyed the facilities. The booking was very smooth with correspondence with Guido being very easy and accurate. As arranged Guido met us at the station and accompanied us to the apartments. He then took us on a tour providing us with a history of the area and enabling us to become familiar with land marks.

We went to one of the restaurants he recommended, Tarttoria de Marissa for lunch this was excellent enabling us to enjoy a fixed price and menu with the locals.

The apartment has all necessary equipment, including a clothes washer which was great for us as we had been on the road for two weeks and although staying in apartments this was the first that offered this facility. The cooking facilities are also very good sufficient to prepare meals, not just reheat food. This enabled us to shop at the Rialto market and enjoy preparing our own meals, not only cost savings but great fun.

All in all we would highly recommend Armonia it is in a very quiet area, other then the church bells that go off at 7 am every morning, with all necessary facilities.

Thank you for the very kind review. About the heating system, in May in Italy is usually set to 'summer' (only hot water). If it was cold, if you had called me I would have explained how to switch the system to 'winter'...

“Armonia apartment met all of our expectations and more - a wonderful, relaxing holiday.”

We have visited Venice before but this was our best stay yet. The apartment was modern, spacious, clean, well-appointed and in a quiet area but within easy reach of all the main tourist sites. Nowhere is very far away in Venice. We really enjoyed the chance to sit outside on the little terrace for breakfast and the books and maps were a very interesting and useful addition. We also appreciated the wi-fi. Guido is a very friendly host who met us at the bus station and explained everything to us. Even though it was getting late, he gave us a guided tour of the immediate locality and was able to provide fascinating historical information as well as recommending places to eat and shop. On the last day, we were even able to leave our luggage in the apartment after check-out time as our flight was in the afternoon. This was very convenient for us. We will definitely recommend this apartment to friends and family on the basis of our own relaxing stay and hope to return before too long.

“Couldn't have stayed in a nicer place!! Thanks Guido :)”

To set the scene, this is written from the perspective of a young couple eager to see the sights of Venice and enjoy a new experience.

We booked the appartment and recieved prompt email confirmation. Guido supplied us with useful directions to meet him and a photo of himself. We found him with no problems and were greeted with a warm welcome.

He taught us about familiar landmarks to find the apartment. On entering the apartment, we were more than happy to find it lived up to its expectations and more. We can guarentee you wont be dissapointed. It was clean, modern with loads of character and a cupboard full of essentials to make you feel at home. Everything you would expect from an apartment.

However, Guido was more than you could ever expect as a host. We were welcomed with a bottle of fizz and a freshly baked tart. We got the necessities out the way, whilst happily sipping and chatting away about the hidden gems you can find in Venice. At this point we expected him to say his goodbyes, but instead he took us on tour around the Ghetto sharing his knowledge of the history of Venice. He gave us an insightful and educated experience. He taught us the do's and dont's of Venice and gave helped us feel grounded in our surroundings.

Even though it rained most of the time, which made our experience different. We found it just as enjoyable. We used the local map Guido gave us for the trip to mark the places we found on the internet and guide books. Here are just a few places we recommend you should try

• Al Arco - found across the Rialto Bridge
• Venice Jazz Bar - near the student area from 9-11pm
• Orange Bar - friendly staff with lots of cheap and free drinks
• Taverna del Campiello Reme - may be called something different now but you should be able to find it on a map. This place was the highlight of our holiday. Between the hours of 17.30 - 19.30, a free buffet with amazing food was put out, which you could help yourself to as long as you bought one drink. We made numerous trips to taste the huge spread of food available. Friendly staff and a Jazz band at night. The atmosphere was amazing and the view from the peer was stunning at night.

Tip: Restaurants and Bars on the main roads around Venice can be very pricey and sometimes not the best places to eat. We found amazing snack shacks and quirky bars off the beaten track which offered cheap food and drink and tasted better than the bog standard restaurants surrounding the many landmarks found in Venice.

To sum it up, Guido made our holiday a much better experience, thanks for letting us stay in your wonderful apartment. I would not hesitate to return in the summer for a fantastic getaway.

All the best,

The happy couple
