My wife & I dined here and we were more than pleased that we had booked L'Anice Stellato for my wife's birthday. The restaurant itself was simple and very cosy, the staff were delightful, the food some of the best we've had in Venice and the wine very good and reasonably priced. Overall a lovely experience.

Anice Stellato offers a unique Venetian experience tucked far away from the tourist crowd. While it’s still on the main island, getting here will be a trip but one that will be well worth it. The clientele is mostly local with a good dose of well informed travelers. The food is reinterpreted Italian; a fresh take on what you’d get elsewhere. Reservations are a must. We saw many walk-ins turned away not for a lack of tables but only because the restaurant didn’t have a good enough selection left. It’s one of the few that shops for food in the morning, cooks as much as they think they will serve, and if they run low walk-ins will not be accepted. We were not disappointed with almost anything we had. Unfortunately, my pasta appetizer was obviously left n the oven for too long and came out dry. Otherwise, the wine and food were outstanding. Weather permitting, you can eat outside. The best tables are adjacent to the low-use canal. Those are mostly four-tops; most two-tops are next to the building. When it turns inclement, they open an additional area inside the restaurant. It’s not very appealing and drastically reduces the number of available seats. That said, the best inside table for two is right opposite the door next to the bar counter – intimate yet evocative, spacious, and airy. The restaurant has been family run for decades and is now transitioning to one of their long-time staff members. So, this review is not completely warranted. However, given what we saw, there is no reason to believe things will drastically change. Consider Anice Stellato a gem.

Chose this restaurant as reviews were good from tripadvisor. We did have a warm welcome, and were seated near to the canal (we had booked). All the reviews are true, the food is very good, although a little sparse.
We were treated very well, although the waiter did forget to bring the 2nd bottle of wine we had ordered.
For what we ate, and what we paid, I agree with a previous reviewer that the prices are slightly inflated.

Venetian food but with a modern touch, beautifully cooked, elegantly presented, and the flavours simply wonderful. The staff are welcoming, charming and always happy to suggest the best combinations of dishes and of wines to go with them if asked (they're never pushy) and there's an excellent selection of wines by the glass, so you can match each course without having to buy whole bottles. It's always the restaurant we visit for our final evening out before flying home.

We enjoyed a romantic dinner for two in this wonderful restaurant. The food was outstanding and the drinks were reasonably priced. The staff were great and you felt well looked after. Make sure you book as it was pretty busy - clearly a very popular place to dine. Oh - and the portion sizes of the mains were quite generous.

Loved the sucking pig.
