I visited this wonderful museum for the first time been so I had spend time in Treviso before. Most of the featured artists were from Treviso, old and new new and remarkable. Treviso is the capital city of the Veneto region, a beautiful city with great tradition and old money I am told. It is not a city like Napoli where folks are very friendly, actually Trevisiani are not the friendlist folks you are to meet. Still I found them graceful, well informed and happy to share the glory of this citta dell'art that lies in the shadow of its close neighbor Venezia. Venezia is a very simple short commute from Treviso, adn I would stay in Treviso for peace and calm, great food and more and take a bus or train to Santa Lucia Venezia for long days in the beautiful city of Venezia. Museo Civico Bailo is superb even in comparison to Treviso's amazing neighborhood. I loved the recent exhibition of Trevisianis, both painting and fabulous sculpture.

It took years to renovate this museum and the result is excellent. Very interesting and well-done museum, following the latest world standards.

Exploring Treviso during Christmas would not be complete without a visit to local museum. A combination of "old masters" in completely new environment makes you an instant art lover. It is one more Trevisian touch directly to your soul.

I visited on this museum's second day of opening, and to be perfectly honest I did not expect anything too special, I was so wrong! This museum's collection is extremely sophisticated and beautiful. It gives a very clear picture of the artistic scene of Treviso during the last decades of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. Impressionism, realism, divisionism, sculptures of all sorts and even symbolism all in one place and perfectly presented. I love art and this museum was a beautiful surprised that also enlightened me on local artist I never knew of. I strongly recommend visiting it to both locals and tourists. Architecture lovers will find it interesting as well for its structure, that is the result of a well done renovation of the old building.

This museum was completely renovated (almost rebuilt from scratch) in 2015. The architecture is stunning: a clean, understated, and linear construction in soft sand colors in the centre of the city. The building fits the milieu (make sure to walk around the block where the museum is); yet, it is in stark contrast to the existing buildings surrounding it.
The collection is the hidden gem. It shows a cohort of stunning pieces from the Venetian area from the beginning of the 20th century by artists that most other museum would, erroneously, ignore. Serena and his realistic portraits and real life scenes, Martini and his almost expressionistic sculptures, and finally Rossi, a painter as talented as he was crazy.
Make sure not to miss this museum if you are in Treviso (and you should be, it's a gorgeous city! ;) ). The museum features descriptions of the pieces in each room in Italian and English. The texts are instructive and surprisingly well translated in English. I hope you enjoy it.
