Description: Il Cavallo Scosso is a choice of passion, quality, tradition and research. Our passion for cooking meets the research of the best natural ingredients which are selected extremely carefully to always obtain the best result possible. We prefer products from the area, but in our menu there always are some national and international excellent ingredients because we believe that gastronomy's evolution is to be limitless: where there's quality there are no boundaries. We love to shop our groceries day by day, prepare daily our fresh pastas, our bread and bread-sticks with biological flours and slow rising only to offer our clients the best that we can.. Our kitchen is constantly evolving, we always have typical dishes and natural ingredients which are part of Piedmont's tradition, but we often add courses made with products which are not on the area on our menus. Il Cavallo Scosso proposes a smart but not too formal environment, composed by 30 covers so that we can give every guest a good attention. Respecting our philosophy, relative to sustainability, the restaurant is located inside a small villa completely built with wood, using the most cutting edge bio-construction solutions, including the technology plants thanks to which we are able to decrease all wastefulness, consumption and pollution emission.

We made a last minute reservation because this restaurant was close to our hotel passing by Asti just for one night. It was a lucky guess and we were not disappointed.

Intimite dining, tasty amuses with a glass of spumante followed by a 4 course menu (“mare”). The starter (carré of codfish with olives) was tasty, the primi of gnocchi with red shrimps came paired with an excellent gewurtztraminner (great choice), followed by a spada (swordfish cooked to perfection) and a desert of red fruit and basil sorbet with sea salt (surprisingly good combination).

Apart from the desert we however missed a pinch of *wow* in some of the courses. Very good ingredients, inspiring combinations but maybe just a little bit too traditional for pleasing our palate. We would rate this place 4,5 out of 5 (but that is unfortunately not possible).

Thank Andreas V

We had a 4 course meal. Tuna and veal were in almost every course. One course was so-so, one was very good and one was outstanding. The desserts were outstanding.

Evening started well when we were almost the only diners in the restaurant. The welcome fizz and little starter were good. Our starters were excellent. Then we had to wait a bit for the mains, but again all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed it. 3 of us had the Menu 'Mare' and the other guest had a la carte. However after we finished this lovely course we had to wait 30 minutes before receiving the dessert menu and once we ordered we had to wait another 30 minutes! We had no explanation or excuses from the waiters. The restaurant clearly needed more staff - ether in the kitchen or waiting staff or both! After we pointed out our unhappiness the waiter said he was sorry... no offers to reduce price or give us some free drinks.
This was a meal for my husband's birthday and the slowness of service really spoiled the evening. This was such a shame as the food was extremely good and innovative but in the end we couldn't wait to get out of there.

Good morning,
the evening of your dinner we had a major problem with one of the refrigerators of the dessert and we realized only at the time of the dessert of your table, which was one of the first to arrive at the desserts. Why at that stage the times have dwelt as per your description. I'm sorry to receive a negative judgment, and so despite penalizing you have said yourself that he had enjoyed the food but I accept full your criticism. We were wrong not to give explanations immediately, but I think that our difficulties are to be managed internally and should not be used as justification.
I offer you my most cordial greetings and renew my apology.

A very cozy, hidden restaurant in a residential area with excellent and creative cuisine, as well as attentive service. See pictures of some of the dishes we had - different choices from different menus. Price/value is great.
