Although the rooms are empty and the wall decoration gone, enough has been preserved in the small museum attached to the site to indicate that it was a fantastic, beautifully painted place 2000 years ago. An attempt has been made to show what it would have looked like, and the ruins are well documented in multiple languages which helps the visitor gain an understanding of what it was like. Views from the top are superb. Well worth the effort to get here just for the views, even if you are not into archaeology. A small shuttle runs every few minutes from Sirmione for those who find the walk a bit much (cost 1 euro one way).
