“Superb place to stay”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at il Giardino sul lago. The views are stunning. The location is perfect - near all the bussle of Varenna yet quiet and private when sat in the garden by the lake. We swam every morning via our own private entrance to the lake. Breakfast was on the beautiful terrace. Our host was extremely helpful and generous.
Cannot recommend staying here enough. We will be back

“Quaint B&B with unbeatable location”

What a spot! With wonderful views of the lake, only a minute's stroll from Varenna's small harbour, and with one of the best restaurants in town directly opposite on the small square, Il Giardino is a small gem.

Inside is cool and well decorated. We had the room with the nicely firm kingsize bed and found the armchairs in the small living area very comfortable to move to once the temperature had dropped too far to sit out by the water. Breakfast was very much to our taste - nothing cooked, but good bread and croissants, excellent fruit, juice, ham and cheese. A bit of variety over our four days would have been welcome - perhaps a yoghurt or muesli on one morning - but that is searching for faults!

Our hostess was very hospitable and kindly gave us a lift to and from the train station. The wifi worked well in the sitting area.

Along with the coolness of the rooms came a feeling of dampness, and the de-humidifier had filled up by the time we left. This was not really a problem in June, but may be a consideration out of season. And I had made the error of thinking the whole place would be ours, when of course we had only rented a room. We felt fortunate that the second bedroom remained vacant throughout our stay, but if you are a party of three/four and take the whole place - or if you do not mind sharing a loo and bathroom - that should not stop you stayng a while in this perfectly placed B&B.

“Lovely location”

The outside of this place was spectacular with amazing views of Lake Como from the private garden on the Lake. The owners had a speed boat that we rented which was a great way to tour the lake. The only reason we did not give it a 5-start rating was the heat did not work well - one day was cold and rainy and the living area was very cool. Also the jetted tub leaked so we couldn't use it. The breakfast was fairly nice. The owner was bi-lingual and spoke perfect English and Italian which was helpful in pointing out things for us.

“Amazing Stay, Highly Recommended”

We stayed with Julia at Il Giradino sul Lago in May of 2014 for several days - we wish it had been longer! As we were travelling with a friend we booked both bedrooms. Julia was a warm, gracious and amazing host - provided many extras, wonderful breakfasts and excellent suggestions for sites and touring information in and around the mid-lake region of Lago Como. As others have noted, the garden view and terrace overlooking the lake are beautiful and offer amazing views and a peaceful quiet environment to relax and enjoy the view! We enjoyed our stay immensely, feel we have made new friends with Julia and her family, and hope to return soon! Thank you Julia --- Highly Recommended!! A & M, Edmonton, Canada

“We will stay here again!”

Julia is warm, considerate, knowledge, down to earth and very nice! She provided us a beautiful and comfortable twin bed room. The entire floor and the room are clean and spacious with stylish deco. The yard is amazing: facing the lake with artistic patios and an iron pagoda on the top stone steps. From far away on the lake, we could see that pagoda knowing we had a comfortable home to stay albeit temporary. She provided us with a nice breakfast and even did our laundry. She sent her son to pick us up and sent us off at the train station. We strongly recommend this place and we will stay here again in the future when we come back for a visit.
