“Perfect choice”

Traveling with a friend, we were looking for a space more than a hotel room with two beds separated by a few inches! After months of research we found this place, and it could not have been more perfect. We took a taxi from the train station. The taxi driver had difficulty finding the address, so asked a local and quickly Simone appeared at the taxi and carried our suitcases down to the entrance, and up the flight of stairs to the apartment. He sat with us and explained how to get around Varenna, made recommendations for restaurants and lake tours, and made us feel very welcome. Each morning, breakfast began at 9 (included in the price) and Sylvia would greet us and ask about our day. The view seated outside looking at the lake was breathtaking. The breakfast was fabulous, including coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice and choice of eggs, omelette, granola and fruit. The morning we left early they packed a sandwich for us to take for the train. The room was comfortable, and had a million dollar view.

We debated about whether to stay closer to where the ferry was located, or near where the town square where Divini Vita was. We are so glad we chose the area away from the ferry. The walk to the ferry was beautiful, with a nice path right along the lake, and took maybe 5 minutes (though, we stopped so often to take pictures and enjoy the scenery, we didn't often actually take 5 minutes!) The area near the ferry was louder with the activity of the ferry, and lost the closeness to the water with the traffic running through to the ferry line, and the adjacent playground for ferry goers. We actually didn't spend any time in that area except for taking the ferry. Definitely enjoyed the location of Divini Vita better, tucked in with a view of the lake, and outdoor cafes and shops nearby. (the town square right up the hill, with a post office, and local activity.) Quaint little place. Varenna is so much more of a relaxing area than Bellagio. We loved the area, and the people, and the convenience of the train mad Varenna the best choice.

“Awsome awsome and a little bit more awsome”
Reviewed 18 October 2014 for a stay in October 2013

I know I am late with this review but I have only recently began to leave comments on places I have stayed and this place was totally worth the stay and a review. I stayed here for 3 nights and we loved every minute. We were a little hesitant at first as we were described this location as being above the bar however the bar is a resturant and it is really next door. There is no noise issues as it is really a sleep little town. The room was more than spacious and the laundry machine was a well deserved treat. The resturant has the best breakfast view on the lake. The owners are a great couple and if you have any questions about what to do, don't hesitate to ask for advise. I tell all my friends they need to go to lake como and that they need to stay here. when we go back we will be staying here.

“Beautiful Varenna”
Reviewed 4 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We changed our plans and stayed at Varenna instead of Bellagio and so glad we did.
Divina Vita is right on the lake our room had a little balcony overlooking it and it was all we expected. Simone and Silvia were the perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome. The room has a spiral staircase to the bedroom which did not worry us. Breakfast was in the restaurant which us part of the B&B and you were able to enjoy the lake view while having breakfast . Would certainly go back to Varenna

“Exceptional Indeed”
Reviewed 16 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

After much research we decided to spend our 3 nights in the Italian Lakes at Divina Vita, partly because of the “exceptional” rating on booking.com. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but all in all this was our favorite place of our 19-night trip, which included luxury hotels in Paris and London and a Grand Canal view in Venice. I pride myself on finding great places to stay but my wife kept repeating that I outdid myself this time. Not only is the location idyllic, with our balcony overlooking the lake, in Varenna the ideal mid-lake place to stay IMHO, but Simone and his wife Sylvia the proprietors were the reason this place is exceptional. They were so warm and welcoming, treating us like honored guests, that we instantly felt at home there. When we arrived Simone greeted us with fruit drinks and snacks and gave us lots of information about Varenna, the area, and the apartment. The apartment was perfect for us- clean, comfortable, plenty of room for 2, great view, excellent AC, and a kitchen with espresso machine. The apartment is upstairs in the building next door to the bar/restaurant they run (Il Bar Molo), which has a prime location on the lake and is a great place to eat and/or drink. The breakfast included omelets, croissants and fresh fruit and was by far the best breakfast we had on our whole trip. Simone built this amazing little spa downstairs with a sauna, cold plunge pool and Jacuzzi, which is available for an additional fee. They light it up with a bunch of candles and it is very romantic for couples.
It was our anniversary and on the last night Simone and Sylvia invited us to have drinks with them and then they brought out this large paper lantern for us and we lit the candle on the bottom launching it up into the sky over the lake to celebrate our anniversary. It was so touching.
Lake Como is beautiful and I look forward to going back. I feel very fortunate that I chose this place to stay. Simone and Sylvia really made our visit so special, and we look forward to seeing them again.
Exceptional indeed.

“Divine Divina is a must to stay at in Varenna”
Reviewed 23 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Stayed for two nights at the Divina and thought it was fantastic.Simone and Sylvie the owners were delightful and did everything to make our stay perfect, great hosts who try to think of everything to make your stay an enjoyable one. They also own Bar Molo and the gelateria and we breakfasted on the terrace directly overlooking the lake which was a fabulous experience. The mixed fruit salad was wonderful and the selection offered for breakfast was plentiful and good quality. The apartment had everything ,even two umbrellas at the door and waterproofs hanging in the wardrobe for those days when the weather turns- as it did on our third day! The veranda directly overlooked the lake and it was lovely to sit there early evening with a glass of wine watching the world go by.If you have difficulty climbing steps there are a few to get up to the apartment but then again Varenna has many steps so I guess people going there would be aware of that. We walked from the station with cases and it takes about 15 minutes but there are taxis from the centre if you prefer not to walk. We hired sunbeds and an umbrella at the Lido which is by the ferry stop and half a day cost 3 euros - great value especially as there were changing rooms, showers, loos, snack bar and access to swimming in the lake. Both restaurants we ate in were good quality at reasonable prices. With pizzas starting at 6 euros and meat /fish dishes averaging at around 15 euros there is something for everyone. Varenna is well placed to explore the lake by ferry and the train station makes for easy access, we travelled from Milan in an hour for 6 euros. I can't wait to return.
