Description: Chef Luigi invite you to Salice Blu Restaurant for lunch and dinner, during the summer season and the winter season. It is possible to have lunch and dinner in the pergola terrace and in the back of the restaurant, if you'd like to see, we have an aromatic and vegetables garden. The menu is 100% Italian, with fresh fish from our lake and fresh hand-made pasta. To have a good table, it is good having a reservation and if you'd like Chef Luigi can pick up you in Bellagio. Every day chef Luigi does Private Cooking Lesson.

Myself and my partner were picked up from our hotel by Chef Luigi 30 mins before our reservation time – we were initially a little nervous about this, as it had potential to be very awkward. We didn’t feel awkward at all. Luigi has a fantastic personality and is very funny, experienced and passionate about food / cooking. He is great. Make sure you try the truffle risotto as although everything we ate was fab, this was our favourite and the best risotto we've ever tried. Thanks so much Luigi! We will be sure to return if ever visiting Bellagio again.

On a separate note, the staff in the restaurant are the complete opposite to Luigi. They did not say a word to us throughout our meal and didn’t understand when we were asking to make an order, for parmesan, water, bread etc. They obviously spoke very little English but didn’t seem interested in trying to understand what we were asking. They made us feel a little uncomfortable at times. They all seemed very young – so perhaps they were new / junior but I feel that they would benefit from some customer service training in order to represent the passionate brand of the restaurant they are working at.

I have to say this isn't our usual choice of dining but it was a special birthday so I booked it as a surprise for my fiancé.

Chef Luigi a true character and provides a wealth of knowledge and shows his true passion for food and even collected us from our hotel and dropped us off at the end of the night which was amazing.

That said the atmosphere was a little awkward for us and the waitress's were very disappointing. They didn't make you feel comfortable, show any personality and barely said 2 words to us all night.

We were given a strange pre starter dish, which the waitress didn't explain or even tell us what it was. It appeared to be some form of fish on some thinly sliced lettuce and a few tomatoes... odd.

The food we chose was superb, very well presented and externally tasty.

A mixed night and we could finally relax once we left.

We came to the Lake Como region mistakenly assuming that all of the fare there would be "typical" Italian fare: pastas, etc. Obviously, this was a bit of a novice error, as the typical cuisine in this region can be quite different from what many Americans assume Italian food is, and one is just as likely in/around Lake Como to have heavy cheeses, cured meats (horse, boar, etc.), and other specialties that you're likely to find in neighboring mountain countries.

That all said, Salice Blu comes through with exceptional "traditional" Italian fare, and this was some of the best that we ate during our 9 days in Italy. Fresh, perfectly cooked pastas, extremely flavorful sauces, and one of the best cooked steaks I've had in my days.

Top that off with very nice service and an excellent wine list, and there's very little to say wrong about Salice Blu. We would definitely return!

In reading the other reviews, I can only agree with everything. We booked a last minute cooking lesson, off-season for our family of four - the kids are ages 10 and 11. We ended up with a private lesson and audience with the famous Chef Luigi for 3+ hours. He picked us up at the dock, gave us a grand tour of his garden (smell that rosemary!), and then gave us great lessons and entertainment on the art of making pasta, answered my questions about how to make the best meatballs (!?), and all sorts of other Italian cooking questions. He and his staff (including his Mom and Grandmother) were simply brilliant with us, especially the kids. I look forward to going back, ordering off the menu and/or doing another lesson making something different. He is quite famous in Italy and I suspect his success will only grow... get there now, before he no longer has the time for such a special evening! Bon Appetit!!
