Room was clean, silent and confortable. Position is excellent: close to the city center, the rail station. Free parking available in front. Wi-Fi worked well. Perfectly suitable for work travel. Best price found through Accor reservation service.

Room Tip: best rate booking though Accor booking service

Cons:

This hotel was fine, but I did feel like it over promises a bit. Minibar means a bottle of gin, a Fanta, a water, digestive biscuits and grappa (?). Room service seems to mean a microwave visible at reception, although there was no menu anywhere in the room. The information booklet gives the name of another hotel which is odd, and they will let you leave your bags but they're not secure, just behind the luggage trolley near the stairs. The staff weren't rude but didn't seem to care that much. All tv channels seemed to be in Italian (I speak bits of French and German too so either of those would have done!). As for location, in the daytime this is close to the station but the nearby underpass closes at 9 pm extending the journey by 10 or 15 minutes. It is five minutes from Theodoric's tomb but 20-30 minutes from most of the main attractions and the same from the main square, Piazza del Popolo.

Pros:
We were grateful that the check in is 24 hours as our train was very delayed. The wifi worked well on the third floor. The breakfast was free and not bad - fruit, cereal, bread and three different cakes. The rooms look quite nice.

Overall, I just feel like this hotel over promises a bit and doesn't have the friendliest vibe.

Note: DO NOT leave your windows open at this hotel. We forgot to close them and came back to loads of what looked like mosquitoes. We tried to get rid of them all but evidently missed some as we both woke up with five or six bites each in the morning.

Dear Natalie, thanks a lot for choosing our hotel! We are really sorry if we did not meet all your expectations!!! We have no restaurant inside our hotel and it is well written everywhere, madam! Then we use the microwave to heat up food, baby milk or water on demand ...it is normal in Italy!!! In addition to Mosaico Hotel we have other hotels belonging to the same group! I do not understand where is the odd thing, madame! We always do our best to make the guests feeling good but it is not easy, sometimes! Anyway thank you very much for your comment! We hope to see you again, just in order to make you change your mind about us!!!
Kind regards.

The hotel is conveniently situated near the railwaystation and offers free parking and sufficiënt parking spaces. The rooms are ok, although a bit small. The staff was extremly kind and helpfull. A great plus is the availability of bicycles that enable you to visit the city centre with little effort. Another thing to mention is the great breakfast buffet, although it can be crowded in the breakfast room.

I realized I wrote a lot so if you want the main jist of the hotel without reading my whole experience the short version will sum it up.

Short version:

Wifi: not good in all rooms- if I could do it again I would have asked to be switched to a room where there was better wifi. I had no service most of the time.
Breakfast: Classic Italian hotel breakfast. Good.
Hotel rooms: Nice, very clean; my personal story highlights the problems I had with my room, seen below.
Staff: need to work on being more helpful and friendly.

Long version:

During my stay in Italy all in all this was probably the cleanest hotel that I've stayed at so far. Stayed for 2 nights. Nice rooms and bathrooms, super clean. About a 15 minute walk from the train station. Although it's located directly behind the station you have to go all the way around to get to it because there is no way to cut through the tracks (obviously). Bike rentals are available but I opted not to ride one because the bikes are in extremely poor condition and I didn't feel safe riding them around the city. It probably would have been fine but I didn't want to deal with a rusty janky bike falling apart on me. If you choose to stay for more than one night, go in the opposite direction of the main town and you will find an awesome park with people running, walking their dogs, ducks floating around etc. If you bring your running shoes it's a great place to go for a run.

My only real complaint is that the wifi in my room was terrible, and the staff is a little unfriendly and kind of disappointing. Both nights I was there, there was a problem with crickets and beatles getting into my room. The first night I wrote it off as a fluke, checked to be sure all the windows were closed and let it go. The second night a cricket landed on my head while I was laying down in bed. Realizing this was an ongoing problem I called the front desk to let them know. The man didn't speak any English, and I couldn't really fault him, I am in Italy after all, but it was too bad because I couldn't really do anything about it. But then when a beatle flew into my face at 3am I realized I needed to get some sleep and went downstairs with google translator to let him know. After talking for a few minutes he offered to change the room. The next morning when I went to settle the bill I mentioned to the woman I had not had a comfortable stay there and she pretty much just shrugged her shoulders and handed me the credit card slip. That was their attitude the whole time I was there. Not really bad, but just unhelpful. Even upon checking in they didn't do any of the usual stuff you would get upon arrival like a map of the city, letting you know the wifi code, and breakfast time etc. She just handed me my key and that was it. So I just asked. It's fine just not really helpful.

Breakfast room was fine. The usual you would see in Italy. Meats, cheeses, yogurt, lots of sweets there, eggs, coffee etc. Not bad at all.

Dear Thea, I apologize for all the inconveniences that occurred! We are really sorry to read this kind of severe and humiliating comments! I'm sure that we tried to do our best to make your stay comfortable...but some problems can happen, unfortunately. I found really unpleasant to read in your review that Italy is so dirty and that we all got a lack of knowledge of foreign languages.....That was not nice and kind of you, sorry! Anyway we would be happy to see you again just in order to change your mind! And...I am proud to be Italian, Madame!!! Always...!!!! Best regards!!!

Ravenna is a wonderful town with lots to see, and easy to get around for tourists.
We took the train in, stayed at the Hotel Mosaico, which is a great hotel, with lovely breakfasts...cakes, eggs, bread, meats, fruit, etc. It would be an easy hotel for drivers, just outside of the city sites, but was easily accessible by train(short walk from station, no hills). The mosaics are extraordinary, absolutely wonderful, highlight of our trip to Italy.
