I stumbled upon this place looking for a dirrerent church. It is an archeological site that explains the sinking of Ravenna and treasures still being found!

This is certainly important as one of the most recent discoveries in Italy from the 6th century. I absolutely get that. However you can walk the 14 rooms and 3 courtyards in about 5 mins - 10 if you’re really milking the 4 euro entry fee.

Interesting but I think too expensive so if left me feeling like I got poor value giving what you can see in the old city of Ravenna.

Of course it’s all all relative so do some reading and decide for yourself.

It’s a kind of new discovery, an excavation that found like a house from the roman bizantino time.
The mosaics are really beautiful and superb!
I was lucky to have someone explaining for a group exactly when I arrived there.
A master peace, don’t miss it!

A nice view of floor mosaics recovered from a Byzantine palace. However not worth the 4 euro price at the time of our visit in my opinion. Probably something for specialists

This is definitely worth the visit. A recent discovery that gives you a sense of the history that is laying just a few meters under your feet as you walk through Ravenna. The Roman estate that was uncovered comes to life as you walk through the ruins.
