Several reviewers have described this hotel as "quirky" but I can't think of a better term. It's an odd assemblage of connected buildings on a side street and the distinction of what is an indoor from what is an outdoor space is quite burry. The room we stayed in has a bunch of weird corners and projections. The room size was rather small, but I thought typical for Europe. The carpets are kind of worn. But it is these peculiarities which left me with a feeling that this is the real Italy, everything made as one-of-a-kind, not like a roadside motel or a strip mall which all look the same from Maine to California. The hotel is just off the circumferential road at the southern porta of the hexagon of central Bologna, and an easy 10-15 minute walk to the Piazza Maggiore. Breakfast is served in a conservatory centrally within the maze of linked buildings. Unfortunately it has too few tables for the number of guests arriving at 7 a.m. for breakfast. After the 7 a.m. rush it seemed to empty out some. The breakfast quality and selection was similar to that in other hotels. The hotel staff was helpful and cheerful. The food at the restaurant Al Sangiovese at the end of the block is exceptional, further adding to the experience.

This is actually called a B&B, but it is really a small hotel (about 30 rooms) but only provides breakfasts and not other main meals. The staff are multi-lingual, with excellent English. They are very knowledgeable about Bologna and could not have been more friendly and helpful.

There is an instant feeling of welcome and friendliness whilst staying there. The rooms are well furnished, air conditioned, smart and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts are wonderful - with such a choice of fayre.

We had a lovely stay there and would go again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Even the small street is very quiet, but if you want complete peace then choose a room at the back by the courtyard garden

Loved the location, a nice 10 minute walk into the main area. Very nice friendly helpful staff. Felt quite sorry for them at breakfast as not enough tables and space. Breakfast was not the best I've had in Italy but still ok, although coffee was the worst I'd had. Good size clean room. A lot of the place though does need new carpets. I wouldn't call it a hotel as no restaurant or bar but it suited us fine and a very good restaurant right opposite also one on the corner. Loved Bologna, perfect for a long weekend visit.

First time tourist in Bologna. I didn't know what to expect but we were soon finding our way through the elegant historic streets and porticos of this medium sized city. The hotel was also elegant, a little worn, but not in any way detracting from its strengths - great location, quiet as quiet, clean, comfortable, - pleasant, helpful staff and a good night sleep. Breakfast (European) in a light filled conservatory was very satisfying.
