The art will blow you away but it is a big day because of the complexity to get in and a case of too many people being admitted in the same day. It felt like a trip through ikea where you are herded like cattle. It took about three hours because you were dawdling in a line of packed to rafters people. I think with 75% less folk it would be a nice experience and you could cover it in 90 mins. By the time we made it to the Sistine Chapel it was disappointing as the security didn’t let you linger for a moment without calling Avanti to move on. We also used the miss the queue which is a bit of a furphy as although you speed walk in the whole three hours is one massive 8 by 500 queue that you are trapped in.
I was so happy to breathe fresh air as it is stuffy and not suitable for the elderly or young children.

We paid extra for an early semi private tour. We queued for 1 hour just to get in the building and apart from a few areas where it wasnt totally crowded it was insane. We later heard that 50,000 people were in the Vatican that day. Its not for anyone who feels claustrophobic. Its beautiful but the intensity of the crowds marred the visit.

SUPER BUSY. Be prepared before you arrive at Rome for the Vatican area to be rammed, ques are so big just be aware.

Although we enjoyed seeing the museums and the Sistine chapel I wish I’d of saved my 46 euros. Tour took so long, took 1 hour to get in as we still had to que with all the other skip the line tours and then took us 2 hours indeed before we decided to leave the tour an finish it off ourselves.
We didn’t get to see the church as this had already taken up nearly half of our day and we was on a time scale as we was only in Rome for the weekend.

Just remember you need it have the time to wait and a lot of patience.

The collections in this museum are well organized and you do not have to be Roman Catholic to appreciate the works of art or religious relics. This is a world class museum. Lines can be extremely long. I advise skip the line tickets OR early entrance small group tour of the Sistine Chapel which also allows you to visit the museum after the Chapel. You will be in the chapel prior to the opening to the public and then go right into the museum.. Be aware photography is prohibited in the chapel and no flash is allowed in the museum. Follow the dress code for the chapel as they are strict and will deny entry in to the chapel if it is not adhered to.

Such artistic splendor here, but placed & spaced neatly enough to feel relaxed. Lots of room despite some crowds. I’m not Catholic, but I enjoyed it.
