Owner description: Probably the most famous chapel in the world because of its incredible artwork, notably "The Last Judgment," Michelangelo's stunning fresco covering 10,000 square feet of the ceiling and wall.

I just can find the words to describe the Sistine Chapel. Beautiful piece of art you just read about it in history and art books. Place will make you speechless...
What I didn't like was a tourists who didn't show respect for the place and other people visiting the Sistine Chapel. You don't have to be believer yourself, but show some respect for other people and the place.
Inside the Sistine Chapel is not allowed to take a pictures and you have to be quiet. Even guided tours cannot be guided inside the chapel. Every question about the chapel you can ask your guide before or after the visit in Sistine Chapel.

Thank kajkot

Offcourse, the art is magnificent. But our visit had nothing to do with art. It was surviving! There where way too many people inside. It was really unsafe. If someone would have started screeming then I was not sitting here and recover from my visit just 30min ago. We were relieved to be outside again. Offcourse it was a challenge because of the 3 hour line outside; but normally I would forget about that. But now I know that the inside was more challenging then being in the line.

unbelievably beautiful holy place! It’s a shame people have to be reminded to cover up, to be quiet and to be reverent. This chapels used by the Pope only for special occasions.
The art work is shown outside prior to entering the museum don’t miss this because once inside there is no information. Recommend considering a guided tour at least for the first time

If you have seen pictures of the Sistine Chapel you probably think you know what to expect. Trust me, you have no idea of how truly beautiful this is. It is extremely crowded. There is a company that offers a small group early entrance tour that visits before the opening to the public. It is highly recommended and we were in the chapel with only 18 other people. It is a bit pricey but worth it! Be aware that photography is prohibited and picture taken in the chapel are done but against the rules. Check for dress code as they are very strict and may deny entry if you are not modestly dress as prescribed by their guidelines.

If there’s one must-do in Rome, this conglomeration is chock-full of art, history, architecture, culture and faith. It is truly a mighty dose of of beautiful sculptures, tapestries, and paintings, so eat a protein-packed breakfast and don your walking shoes, because we walked for over 5 miles and likely only scratched the surface. It’s difficult to turn around here to go back to the entrance where you started.
A few tips:
Take a cab, bus or Uber to save your feet while you can.

Set your phone’s timer to get through exhibits faster because the climb to the top of St.Peter’s closes at a specific time and you should try it.

Don’t take a backpack if you can help it.

If you have portable mirror that’s about 8x8 minimum, take it so you can look at the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling without hurting your neck.
It gets extremely crowded here.

There is a cafe with sandwiches, pastries, pizza, & soup about 2/3 of the way in, so you can snack here.
Took my 20 yr old daughter who is not a museum kind of girl, but she enjoyed it, as long as we moved along.

Have fun,
The Common Sense Traveler
