“The Beautiful Bells of Santa Maria Maggiore”

Being next to one of the most spectacular basilicas (Pope Francis actually comes there.) is an amazing part of our trip. The church bells are beautiful and stop overnight. The location of the apartment was perfect, maybe metro or taxi to Vatican but walking everywhere is easy. The apartment is completely functional with ac, 3 large beds, and 2 baths. The sitting area/kitchen are the only
common room and somewhat limited. We loved our stay and Rome. Sabrina's info packets before the trip (and waiting in the apartment too) were priceless. She is a great host.

“great location, beautiful apartment, really helpful hostess”
Reviewed 15 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

stayed at this apartment with my wife and three daughters in their early 20's. Sabrina the hostess is great, communication prior to our arrival was excellent and anything we asked for was provided. The location of the apartment was perfect, we mostly walked but the train and metro are only 5 mins away. The apartment was beautiful and was perfect for a family of 5.

Highly recommend this apartment and hostess

“Fabulous location and a classy apartment”

The apartment was large and comfortable with classy furnishings. The master bedroom has a fabulous view and a huge en suite. The other two bedrooms were definitely smaller but still adequate and comfortable. The second bathroom was a bonus.
The living area and kitchen are open plan and quite small, but we managed fine. The kitchen had loads of plates but was a bit short on cutlery and equipment to make more than a very basic meal.
The location couldn't be bettered - classy old building and literally only 5-10 mins walk from the ancient attractions, and walkable to most others too if you are fit. Close to train and metro stations.
Sabrina was great - we arrived a little earlier than we had said and she came immediately we called her. Very welcoming and friendly and also ( by pre arrangement) looked after our 3 kids whilst we ran the Rome Marathon. They had a great time.

“We had a great vacation in large part as the apartment fit our needs.”

I am writing this review from the perspective of, and for North American (US or Canadian) renters. I had relied in part on the prior reviewers in making our decision to lease the Marconi House apartment and I feel it is important to leave potential future renters a worthwhile review

The apartment itself was large enough for the four of us to spend seven days comfortably. My wife and I occupied the large bedroom, and our son and mother-in-law the other two. The hardwood floors are a nice as these appear in the photos, which is great as there are no concerns about the cleanliness of carpets are there are no carpets. The master bath with a single entrance inside the large bedroom is nice as well. The kitchenette space is serviceable, and to be honest you are in Rome to enjoy the sights, sounds, and flavors so forgot cooking and the refrigerator can hold enough drinks and perishable foodstuffs. The Wi-Fi worked fine. The building had a lift and never really was a wait for it which was great for my mother-in-law.

The apartment is literally right across the street from the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, which provides an easy reference if you need to take a taxi back to the apartment. It is located in a nice and safe area. If you are unfamiliar with European cities you cannot judge an area by graffiti, dirty buildings, beggars and trash as these are everywhere including affluent neighborhoods. Judge the area by quality and abundance of shops and restaurants, and the people on the streets and at what times.

Apartment is about a 10 block walk to the Coliseum and Forum. Big bonus it is very close to the Metro (you take this line to the Vatican) and main train terminal, the latter being great if you if wish to day-trip to another place as we did to Pompeii and Florence. Lastly I will insert a tourist tip if you have a morning or afternoon to spare a block beyond the terminal are both the Museo Nazional Romano and the Baths of Diocletian. Visit both!! Neither will appear of the lists of must sees, thus no lines and no crowds, but worth it!!

There were two well stocked markets on either side of the piazza to supply our breakfast, snack and drink needs for the apartment. Most importantly there are plenty of excellent and reasonably priced local restaurants – two of which I added reviews on Trip advisor as well - as we ate locally 6 of our 7 nights. If unfamiliar with European standards dinner is eaten later, 8 or 9 pm, and as we walked back late at night as I noted above we felt completely safe at home

The only area I would note – not as negative but for planning uses – is that washer and dryer is a single unit (not stacked, but actually the same unit). It is not instinctive to North American users and has a long cycle time. If you do rent and pack with intent of doing laundry (as we did) suggest reviewing the washer-dryer and cycle times with Sabrina when you check in.

Before I conclude it would be remiss not to mention on the small street behind the building is a lovely gem of the Basilica di Santa Prassede, and if you do rent please visit and leave a donation

“Attractive, clean apartment in great position”
Reviewed 26 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Great apartment with bedroom views out to the Piazza. Clean and attractive bedrooms and bathrooms. Great position in walking distance from the main railway station and all major attractions. Lounge is a little small and dark. Dishwasher didn't work that well. But overall a very good choice that suited our family well.
