Don't trust this hotel! I have been a Traveller since I am a child and I have never in my life had a problem that a hotel charges more than they write to you in an email confirmation! It is an outrageous situation - they send to you on purpose the "official reconfirmation", where it's stated in clear writing "After the time above mentioned we charge the cost of the first night as No Show." However, turns out that they send another email before the official one, where they write in small font that they charge you half of the stay!

And in addition to that, when I called to deal with the situation, a person named Claudio laughed at me and said that it is my problem.

I am planning on making a reservation again next week, but I am not choosing a hotel that makes money in such a way.

Dear Guest

First of all I wish to inform you that I really am very sorry for the inconvenience that has happened but there are some things you wrote are not true, first of all you've just made your reservation for 8 nights you have received confirmation from our official website where clearly it reads "this is the cancellation policy for reservations exceeding five days:
The 50% of the total amount of the booking will be charged at the confirmation, and it is not refoundable, May cancel your reservation without paying any penalty other before 12:00 hours on the tenth day before His arrival. If after That time will erase the penalty will be the 100% of the total amount of the booking "

You've canceled your reservation the night before check in so you know clearly qule would be criminal. In the case of your reservation the day you sent us the confirmation we have refrained from doing immediately charged, indeed, we only did a validity check of the amount of the first night and this I think it was a nice thing to us. When you have deleted then we have tried to make the charge. as cancellation policy, but your credit card will not be charged the total amount allowed, then we decided to make a charge for the first 3 nights, JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHERE ARE FRAUD COULD EVEN SAY THAT YOU HAVE MADE A FRAUD TO US GIVING AS A GUARANTEE OF YOUR RESERVATION A CREDIT CARD THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH CASH. Moreover, as usual we do, we could have for future bookings get a special rate to compensate for the no show we charge you instead you started to threaten us and accuse us of fraud and frankly there was very very bad. Thou hast not acted honestly and you know it. However if you want to try to deal with us I am at your disposal to resolve the situation and since we have informed ch you have to come to Rome I'm sure we will find an agreement, we are here for you.

Yours sincerely

I recently spent three nights in this hotel with my husband, and we were then joined by our son and his wife. It is a lovely little hotel on the first floor of an old building in via Margutta. The rooms were compact and so were the showers, but comfortable, and well decorated. Very convenient for central Rome. Plenty of shops and only 2 minutes from the Spanish Steps. Ideal if you want to spend time out, and sightseeing, but comfortable when you get back. Very clean and the staff extremely kind and ready to help. Nice continental breakfast, and they are happy to make you a cup of tea or coffee if you are there during the day. No lounge as such, as the hotel is very small, with only 18 rooms, but you can sit in the breakfast room. Claudio, the concierge and not sure if also manager, was delightful and could not have been nicer and more helpful.

My wife and I spent a week at this 3 star hotel Dec 30 to Jan 6 2016-7.Rooms were small, could barely turn around in the shower, which has no heat, and it took us several days to get an English speaking TV channel, and those were old movies and TV series. Rooms were clean and the bed was good. Breakfast was great with plenty of goodies. Location is great as was the price. We were less than a block from the Spanish Steps. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel has been around since 1923. They were able to book us a car to take us to the airport cheaper and nicer than a taxi

Room tip: Rooms with an outside view are good

Dear Guest

Thank you for the review you wrote about Hotel Forte. Our hotel is located in an ancient building that until 1800 hosted a theater, the famous "Teatro Alibert," which is famous for being the first theater in Italy to allow women to play, and then when we realized the Hotel Forte we tried to leave unchanged the artistic spirit of the building and of Via Margutta, you can find more information of the Teatro Alibert within our official Website. Next time that you come I promise you to give you one of our room with the biggest shower possible. I hope that when you come back to Rome again you will choose us, we will be happy to accommodate you.

The hotel really is a 2 minute walk to the busiest streets on Rome, and the Spanish steps! Yes the " double room" was quite small, amd the bathroom also - even though there was a bath tub in there. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly! I have stayed in other hotels near Termini station, and i highly advise in spending a little more money to be close in the center. Once again, the location of this hotel was everything!

We spent a week at the Hotel Forte. At the start I thought that there was no way that we could spend a whole week there, but you gradually get used to the Roman way of life and find yourself actually enjoying what, at the beginning, you had thought impossible.
The bathrooms are minute, a slight problem with both the shower and the lavatory. The beds are comfortable enough, and the breakfasts (both hot and cold, and with a zillion different shades of tea and coffee) very enjoyable. Hotel Forte is within a hundred yards of the Spanish Steps. The 3* hotel is also totally inexpensive. A good find.
