I just came back from Italy and had a horrible experience with the Spazio Roma in Eataly Roma.

My friend and I decided to go to Eataly last Tuesday to check it out and have dinner there. We met a very friendly lady in the subway who mentioned that the top floor restaurant has a very nice view and they were having a fixed 60€ menu from the Michelin three-star chef NIKO ROMITO. She was not sure if there were still seats available since it usually requires a reservation. We decided to go there to see if they still have seats available. We were not dressed up nicely, we were in our jeans and T-shirt that evening since we were not expecting to go to any nice restaurant that evening. The hostess looked at us and told us that the restaurant was fully booked.

5 minutes later we decided to go back and try to book for next day. We talked to the same hostess again to see if we could make the reservation for Wednesday or Thursday. The hostess just told us that they are closed Wednesdays and didn't even give us a chance to check reservation for Thursday. In the meantime, there was a Italian couple who showed up and they didn't have a reservation either but the hostess told them to wait while she was talking to us and after that she was able to get a table for that couple. Since I speak Portuguese I was able to understand what's going on.

That hostess judged us by appearance and didn't want to seat us because we were not dress up appropriately. She could just tell us about their dress up code and of course if we go back another day we'd have been better dressed!

I think the restaurant who judge customers by appearance does not deserve a Michelin three-star rating! Not even a one star rating.

I am sad to say that I had entered the Piazza Republica establishment on official business and, although I spoke in Italian, I was dismissed by the waiter in a most inappropriate manner. He actually treated me to a "dismissed" type wave of the hands and told me to go outside. I felt very humiliated and for no reason other than I think he just wanted to have a break. I spoke to the Manager Mauro and I had agreed to come back and try the food later that evening. Mauro was not there upon my return. Unfortunately, I would not eat here again. Some waiters were lovely and always ready with a smile (Natalia) but overall I feel that this is an overrated restaurant. Much better places in Rome where you get treated like a client not like a dog! Sorry eataly but I have had no feeling of goodwill either.

a giant food court with anything and everything Italy has to offer. Very fresh products and a huge choice. Mainly high quality products are offered.
Not a tourist place but a place for geniune lovers of Italian products.
Several themed eateries.

Its not so much a restaurant but has about 15 restaurants in it catering for all tastes meat, fish, veggie, pasta, pizza whatever, also good bar on the third floor for a morning cafe e cornetto. There is every conceivable wine, beer, pasta. rice, vegetable , fish, cheese, salami etc etc to buy. Really there is nothing not to like if you have the time and like food. Best way to get there is from the far side of platform 15 at Ostiense station. To leave and get back to Rome centre I would do this: Go to Pyramide Metro, get of at the Colleseo (Note at the time of writing the aspect as you leave the metro to the colleseo is shot at due to building works, used to be great) Get the 51 bus right outside the Metro station, it will take you up the Corso. Handy then for the trevi etc. Forgot to mention whist at Pyramide it is well worth visiting the protestant cemetery just behind said pyramid if you have time
