Il giardino degli aranci is a great place where to spend some time relaxing by yourself or with friends, especially during spring.
The most important fact about it is the view. There's a terrace from where you have a great view of the Trasteverre and the surroundings.

After peeping thought the keyhole in Piazza di Cavallieri di Malta to enjoy the wonderful view of the vatican and visiting the pretty church of San Anselmo, we strolled through the Giordino degli Aranci. This garden offers spactactular views of Rome and some times there are also concerts.

The tranquil Garden of Oranges (Giardino degli aranci) also known as Parco Savello, affords fantastic views of the many monuments, roof tops and domes of Rome, including St. peter's Basilica. The park is behind the ancient Basilica of Santa Sabina, and beside the Piazza Pietro d'Illiria. Aside from views there are orange trees (obviously) and a place to relax and unwind from the chaos of Rome. I ate an orange from the tree and it was quite bitter, even though it looked ripe.

An oasis in the midst of a very busy city. We went in may and the wonderful smell of orange/mandarin flowers enchanted us. The view is superbe and you can also rest on a bench or directly on the grass.

I've lived in Rome for 5 years and this is one of my favorite places. It is a perfect getaway from the crowd and the heat (and trust me you'll find both in Rome), and still you are not even 2km out of the city centre where all the attractions are. You can rest on the grass or sit on a stone bench enjoying the shade of high stone pines and orange trees. There is an amazing and very romantic view of the St Peter's Church from the terrace that is so well designed that even people who suffer from acrophobia (fear of heights) can step on it and admire the the city from above. It is not the highest viewpoint but is the safest. If you start panicking you are just 5 steps from the solid ground, in the park and there is a fountain where you can drink from, you can see the children happily running around, people lying on the green grass, reading books or making sketches, eating their snacks...... Since it is very small park it is very secure, not like Villa Borghese where someone can steal your things or assault you, especially if you are a girl and on your own. Never heard any ugly story about this place, just that those oranges taste horrible.
