“Beware the shutters ?”
Reviewed 19 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

I concur with the very positive reviews of this apartment re. condition & location. One should not come to Rome to watch Sky television and the digital box was there but, no programmes were available, which was perhaps because the subscription had lapsed ? The terrace is great but I wouldn't be happy to have toddlers running about as the stairs could be challenging. In the corner of the terrace area there is a pair of wooden shutters. When they are open a very loud sound emerges from some sort of industrial machinery. I don't know if it's a functioning business or a very keen carpenter but boy is it loud. On the other hand my more easy going wife wife never noticed it & told me to stop being a baby so, go figure.

“Loved the location!”
Reviewed 9 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

From the outset Marida responded to our emails promptly. We felt confident that we had chosen the right place to stay in Rome based on all the reviews. We were able to leave our luggage at the apartment on early arrival from the airport which was very important for us. We came back around noon to check in with Elenora. Everything operational in the apartment was explained to us by Elenora and she even made us a cup of coffee in the Italian coffee machine. Unfortunately the clothes washing machine we had hoped to use was broken and we were advised to go to a laundry on nearby Via Cavour but were reimbursed for our wash.

The apartment is located on a quiet alley (only trafficable for motorcycles) with a stairway at the end leading to some lovely restaurants as well as Fatamorgana – the best gelato in the area! Nearby are some local alimentari (grocery stores) where daily supplies can be purchased or there are supermarkets within 5-10 minutes walk. We loved the Monti area as it felt less touristy and crowded but it was still vibrant with the local people.

The apartment was spacious, immaculately clean and everything that we needed was provided. After our days of sightseeing, the rooftop terrace was a great place to relax (when it wasn’t raining). There was only a view of rooftops but it was a large open private area. I can still recall the blissfully sweet smell of the star jasmine and think how nice it would be to back on that terrace again.

We had a minor problem with the shower rail head but once we made Marida aware of it by text message she arranged to come and it was fixed within hours. The internet was a bit slow I think – it worked fine on my ipad but there was a problem on my friend’s computer.

We asked Marida if we could walk to the Termini station where we were to pick up our rental car after our departure but she suggested it would be better we went by taxi as we had each had a suitcase. She booked one for us and it could not have been easier!

We would not hesitate recommending to stay in this lovely apartment. It is in a fabulous location in a most charming area of Rome.

“Excellent location for a beautiful apartment in a charming Italian street”

When my wife and I arrived at this apartment we knew we'd booked something special. The narrow cobbled street that led to the apartment was filled with window boxes, plants, bicycles and those iconic Italian Vespa scooters added an extra splash of colour to this charming little street which was only a 5-10 minute walk from the the Forum and the Colosseum. Cavour metro station was only 2-3 minutes from the apartment and clearly with the apartment being so conveniently located all the necessary ameneties were close to hand.
The open plan design was beautiful with a modern well equipped kitchen, gorgeous bathroom and in my view the winning features were a mezzanine floor with a large comfortable double bed which led through an electrically operated roof window to a large wooden decked roof garden with table and chairs. This was decorated with soft lighting and orange, lemon and mandarin trees. The roof garden was the perfect antidote to the tiring, but rewarding sightseeing trips that this beautiful city has to offer.
We did have two very minor issues when we stayed in the apartment however I have to say that the service we received from Marida and the beautiful Eleanori from Nostromondo, the letting agent was fast and efficient.
A suggestion we would make is that the seating in the lounge área could be bettered by having a larger and more comfortable seating área however this is only a very minor criticism. A final point to highlight is that my wife and I stayed in a hotel in central Rome last October and after our stay at the Ciancaleoni we'd have no hesitation booking again.
