Unfortunately we could not go in due to time restraints but even what is visible from the outside is amazing enough. The next time we are in Rome, we most definitely will go in.

You need to have a few days here in the Roman Forum to explore the whole complex, I had no idea how big the site was until we entered the ruin

I would recommend some sort of audio-guide when going - we used Rick Steves free guide and it made the visit a lot more interesting - more so than just reading the boards and walking through the Forum.

This place truly shows the architectural wonder of ancient Rome - these temples and buildings are on such a grand scale, and leave you wondering - but HOW did they build this?

Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Rome

I did not realise how huge the forum is! It is amazing to see all the buildings (ruins) and imagine what life used to be like walking these streets of ancient Rome. There is a lot of information to take in so try to just enjoy being there in the experience.Take water especially if you go on a hot day, there are fountains dotted around so you can fill the bottles. The forum involves a lot of walking and you can spend hours there.

If you love the old Roman empire, then this is the place for you. But if you just love Rome and also want to have energy to see something else, then go first to the Palantine Hill and see the Roman Forum from above. Then you know how huge it is and if you want to spend many hours here. There is unfortunately only little or non information about what the different ruins were and how the looked when they were build.
