Pleasant surprise

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 Mar 2024
Reviews made me a little nervous. Pleasantly surprised. Booked this trip with my mum. The location is fantastic. Metro close by & close to shops & landmarks. Room clean and basic. We needed a base & this was perfect. Staff so helpful & friendly! Would definitely recommend & stay again. If you just want to see this wonderful city & have a decent night sleep this is definitely a great place to stay.

We chose this hotel for the proximity to the Vatican City and overall we were pleased with the location, 5 to 10 mins walk.
Do your research and check out the street view as the lobby is within a bigger block containing apartments.
The staff are lovely and helped out with recommendations for restaurants and attractions.
The room was ok, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was powerful and hot.
There are a ton of restaurants within the very close proximity to the hotel and this leads me to the one negative, the breakfast.
I understand there is no cooking facilities but, for me, I have never seen such a poor continental breakfast choice. We did try it on the first day only but don't worry you can get a nice breakfast just round the corner.
One tip, we walked just about everywhere and found some lovely shops, restaurants and churches, that would be missed if you took the bus or taxis. The weather was lovely, for the end of January, 16° and sunny.

Room tip: Book a tour guide service for The Vatican and the Colosseum

Don’t be put off by the negative reviews.
We have just left after a 3 night stay and was pleasantly surprised.
Yes the hotel shares its main entrance with an apartment block but once through there you are in dining area with 24hr reception desk. Met by friendly staff.

The room was spacious and clean, we had a shower and toiletries were provided.
Maid service everyday if you wanted.

Breakfast is a couple of muffins and croissant in a bag, coffee and choice of muffins/ yogurts.
Nothing warmed or cooked but the hotel is within a couple minutes walk of nice breakfast restaurants.

The hotel is located in a quieter part of Rome. Away from the hustle of landmarks but easily accessible to get there.
The Vatican is within a 10 minute walk.
Buses are really good at getting you across the river to Trevi fountain / The Pantheon etc.

Would recommend this hotel for the price we paid.

Cute boutique hotel within walking distance of the Vatican. Rooms are clean. Staff is friendly and helpful to provide information on area attractions. The continental breakfast is a perfect start to your day. Would definitely stay here again.

CONS:
It's not the same hotel as in the pictures, the rooms are not properly cleaned, walls, floor even the ceiling was dirty. Mold grew in the air intakes and the toiletbrush was dirty from earlier guests. I stayed here for 5 nights.
If you don't spend any time at the hotel it can still be a good vacation. The "breakfast" is two pieces of white bread and a croissant served in a bag and you can choose your condiments between nutella, creamcheese and jam in small packages, 2 containers with juice and 2 with water, saltines and prepackaged yoghurt. A sugar spiked start of the day. There was no fruit or actual condiments.
Minibar had only 2 waters.
The entrance is shared with civilian apartments (so no actual hotel lobby)
The "lobby" is a desk in the breakfast room.

PROS:
It's at a good location close to places you want to visit. (restaurants, tourist spots, we walked to all the landmarks in one evening 3-4 hours, book tickets to the Vatican museums in advance, you DO NOT want to stand in that queue)
The A/C in our room was working
The staff was nice and helpful with tips for restaurants and transfers and such. (But then we didn't complain to them so I wouldn't know how they act in such a situation)

CONCLUSION:
If you DO NOT have high demands at living standards and just was a place to sleep, this is a good place to book (depending on the price you get.)

If you want to enjoy a vacation at a nice hotel in Rome and feel classy and have any demands higher than below average.
Choose another hotel so you don't get disappointed.

Room tip: Supermarkets around where you can buy snacks, water and breakfast. You can refill your water bottles for free at water fountains in Rome.

The hotel was tired but comfortable and the central location was excellent. Surrounded by restaurants and a small supermarket a few doors away. It was a 10 minute walk to The Vatican.

The air conditioning was OK but we were there during 42c temperatures. Bed linen and towels were clean and good quality. The shower was OK but again a bit tired.

Breakfast was basic buy more than adequate. They are currently looking to improve the Breakfast.

Room tip: Superb central location. Very small hotel.
