This hotel is well situated for wandering into Sorrento. It is also a reasonably short walk to the bus station where a lot of the guided tours depart.
The hotel itself is reasonably modern and in a pretty good state of repair. We hadn't paid for any sort of view from our room so overlooked the driveway. We did however have our own little patio area. There is a pool. It didn't look very big and as we were out and about most of the time we didn't have the chance to sit at it, but other people seemed to enjoy it.Our room was clean, tidy and again reasonably modern.
There was a large dining area. We only had breakfast here, but it was nice with plenty of choice including hot english breakfast. There were impressive views of Vesuvius from the dining area and I imagine some bedrooms must have shared this view.
The staff were very polite and helpful. There was free wifi which had good reception in the foyer, but was a bit spotty in the room.
I would definitely stay here again.

Tranquil oasis to escape the busy and noisy streets od Sorrento. Elegant, cool public rooms, a lush tropical garden and fabulous views of the Bay of Naples from our room, bar and restaurant.
We booked a sea view room with balcony which was spacious, cool and very comfortable with a king size bed, marble bathroom, bright blue floor tiles and sunny yellow walls. We enjoyed endless entertainment on the balcony with views of; boats of every size, bathers below and the ever changing light and colours of the sea, sky and Vesuvius.
Breakfast was an extensive buffet of hot and cold dishes, the pastries and cakes were irresistible and service superb. We also dined a la carte a couple of times in the evening, the imaginative menu offers local, seasonal produce, beautifully presented and most enjoyable, the locals wines are also well worth a try. Luigi and his restaurant team are all charming, friendly and full of fun. The bar's terrace is a perfect place to sip a pre dinner cocktail or night cap with stunning views at sunset, again with lovely staff.

Only one negative, the 2 younger, male receptionists are quite offhand and indifferent, on arrival we were not welcomed with a smile or greeting but just asked for our passports and as we were about to thank one for a wonderful stay when settling our bill he turned away for no reason. Perhaps they should observe their colleagues' effortless charm.
Only one negative

Room tip: Book a seaview

I was part of a tour of 13 women so I had a room to myself which of course means I paid a single supplement and got the smallest room in the hotel; which turns out, wasn't so bad after all. Although it did annoy me that my two friends sharing a room next door had a large room with a sofa and a balcony!! Such is the life of a solo traveler.

Having said that, I must say this hotel was awesome in other ways! The view from the back balcony of the hotel was to die for! We could see Mt. Vesuvius across Naples Bay! The daily buffet breakfast was amazing and delicious and had too many choices to mention. The front desk staff were helpful but not very friendly. The hotel was very clean and the cleaning staff was awesome! We could actually walk into the town or to the marinas from our hotel which was a plus and felt very safe, even at night. My complaint would be I needed an iron and they gave me one but said I had to return it right away! Did they only have one for the whole hotel???? My luggage had been misplaced by the airlines and didn't arrive for 4 days so I had to purchase clothes which needed ironing so I had to keep going back to the front desk and asking for an iron! Really annoying. Buy some more irons please!!

Would I return? Yes, definitely for the location and the views!

I love this hotel and would never book any other hotel in Sorrento. Staff---wonderful, 'specially beautiful Roseanna on reception and all the boys----they are all so happy and friendly, they make your stay very special. Everything immaculate, restaurant, breakfast room- simply like no other, wonderful service and I fell in love with all the waiters- so friendly, funny and efficient. Large elegant sitting room which leads on to a lovely terrace for drinkys, overlooks the bay as the restaurant does. Shangri La. Thank you Tramantano for a wonderful holiday.

.

Room tip: Just ask and they will do their best to please you.

Most of the reviews speak about the amazing views because I think most folks try to focus on the beauty beyond rather than focusing on the tired bones within this hotel. You can tell this was once a gorgeous, tip top institution. 1975? 1980?

We put our bags down in the room only to return to the front desk in order to inquire about an upgrade. There was nothing so we adapted. Ironically, because this room was twice the price of our stay in Atrani the previous week, we assumed this would be the "fancy place." Hehe.

It was sweet. The room was fine. It was clean. Our view was of the nice house next door and their big dog that barked every time their gate opened and closed. The bathroom was super small and made me think about Jim Morrison in a bathtub somewhere....But I digress.

The concierge and front desk staff were superb and snarky the way you'd expect from your staff in Paris but the Parisians are actually too snarky to let on that they are snarky so they are just quiet. These folks behind the desk are willing to come out from around the desk and point the way or grab your bag for you. They ride scooters and smoke cigarettes and like hearing what you think is the best pizza in town. The staff, overall, save the Tramantano.

The breakfast is the best thing about the room fee because it rocks and the servers are old school attentive and professional. It is a bit more formal so you can tell that the folks at the next table want to chat but they just don't. So you sit and eat your pistachio chocolate croissant, sip your "Americano" which here is like bad instant coffee- ask for a cappuccino - and watch the gorgeous coast in front of you.

If you want to be in the heart of Sorrento and still get a crazy awesome view on the back patio with a cappuccino or a proseco, this hotel will suffice. They should charge $50 less per room but I'm sure the mortgage will not allow for more than minimal updates to the infrastructure.

Room tip: is there a new wing? ok, well then how about a sea view?
