While Strolling in Salerno, we found this amazing church.
The art is amazing
Free entrance, but never forget this is a place of worship and should be respected as such.
I found out later that the local police station is housed in the building, what an incredible office to go to.

Closed on Mondays and open from 10am to 12 then 6pm to 8pm. Sundays from 11.30 until 2pm. Entrance is free.
This former Benedictine monastery now partly houses the local police station (smashing headquarters though)and the church is right at the side.
Had the place to myself and the caretaker was so helpful, providing a leaflet and showing me around. It really is 'a jewel of Baroque Art' as the leaflet states. Wonderful ceilings and paintings by Solimena among others. The perfect acoustics they say, make it ideal for classical concerts and choirs.
Salerno really has some wonderful churches.

An amazing chapel, dating in part back to the early 9th century. The first thing that hits you is the bright yellow floor, much more modern and somewhat out of place.
The entrance door is beautiful, green and gold. There is an impressive painted ceiling and an interesting painting of the archangel Michael by Francesco Solimena dated 1690.

We didn't go looking for this church, but passed its open door, stepped in - and wow. This Baroque church has an exceptionally beautiful ceiling. Dimly lit and loaded with decoration, I recommend a visit to Chiesa di San Giorgio in Salerno's centro storico.
