we traveled as a family with 2 children.and an adulation room for one adult. for the family we actually received an upgrade to our room and were delighted to receive a grand suite with a great view. however the price was not fitting. we paid over 300USD a night. the AC in one room was not powerful enough. and the cleanliness of the room was also not sufficient. I would not recommend this hotel to families. not catered for them at all.

We stayed for three nights around our 25th wedding anniversary in this former convent. which gives it real character.
The hotel organised collection by car from Salerno railway station which was organised by email in advance of our stay. I requested flowers for the room and some Prosecco. The flowers were magnificent and the wine was offered as a gift from the management.
Our room (42) was built into the rock, with a small staircase and balcony with views over the sea. Food was very good, with a wide variety at breakfast (exceptional cappuccino) and a very reasonably priced set menu in the restaurant. We also dined in the restaurant across the road in the Saracens Tower where we enjoyed some excellent seafood .
The salt water pool is perfectly located beneath the tower on the edge of the sea with access to the sea down a small set of steps. Towels are provided and there is a limited bar service.
Staff, at all times, were attentive and helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the fomer cloister area is a real boon. Beds were exceptionally comfortable. We would love to return some day. I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the area with its good links by ferry to Salerno, Capri and Sorrento.

Be careful which room you end up with and you'll be in for a treat at this hotel. The pictures I've seen don't do it justice. We were first given a very bad room (room 1 - avoid at all cost) but we complained and without any argument they gave us a new room which was a lot nicer. The views from the rooms are incredible. The rooms are basics but very comfortable if you manage to get a good one. I read a lot of bad reviews of this hotel and I'm sure it's because they were unlucky with the room. I think the management knows that they have 3-4 rooms which are horrible and they don't make any fuss about changing you rooms when they can. Breakfast was very nice, we've stayed in many 5 stars and luxury hotels and we can honestly say this is a very good breakfast, lots of variety and good service. The only minus would be that I don't think the coffees and cappuccinos are made with real Italian coffee machine but with instant "push a button" kind of machine, which is a real minus for an Italian hotel. The pool is incredible with a private access to the sea. We would stay here again.

We stayed for a week and had a room on the second floor with a very large balcony and sun shading. It was very comfortable with a tiny but perfectly formed bathroom. The shower was powerful and the bath useable. We ate at the tower restaurant one evening and it was excellent. Accomplished cooking and excellent service. The restaurant in the main hotel was unremarkable but pleasant.
Breakfast was varied and it was lovely sitting out on the balcony overlooking Amalfi and the sparkling Mediterranean.
We found our own activities - boat trip to Capri, Visit to Pompeii - and I felt Reception could have been more proactive with helping us. On the night we arrived there was a fantastic firework display in the bay beside the hotel at midnight. Our taxi driver told us about it - no mention from the hotel staff.
The walk down the main road to the town was not good - there is no pavement and you have to face cars and the speedy mopeds. No mishaps but you have to keep your wits about you.
The pool is small but clean and the attendant works hard to look after his guests. The sea can be rough but is warm. Plenty of loungers some in lovely shaded areas.
Overall a very enjoyable stay.

So when you're looking to stay in Amalfi, there are many places to stay from small to large, from quaint to luxury. Luna Convento was both for us! We went on our honeymoon and stayed five days five nights. It was FANTASTIC! The staff was very helpful, accommodating and kind. The room we stayed in was gorgeous!!!! We had A HUGE balcony (room 19). The AC wasn't that great but it didn't matter. The room itself was gorgeous. The pool is sooooo awesome and located across the street and down steps. It was gorgeous and easily accessible. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in amalfi. What was also great was that it was a two minute walk into the heart of the town (which is crowded ) so it was nice to not be directly in the town where its very crowded but you're not far away that you can't get to it easily. Also, Amalfi is central and you can travel to other towns for the day or just for dinner. We would go to Postiano, Revello, Miore, etc for dinner trips to get out of Amalfi as you can do Amalfi in a day or two. There is GORGEOUS courtyard that is an original monastery that is absolutely gorgeous to sit in and have a drink or some coffee. Its magical.

Room tip: Ask for larger room, some can be small from what I heard.
