I went to the Callosa waterfalls begin of May 2010, during my firstholiday in Benidorm. We went on a 'free' trip from Benidorm.
My reason for wanting to see the Algar waterfalls is from watching ITV's Benidorm. The waterfalls are very pretty however the site is not as big as it looks on TV. There is a swimming area (and a diving board) which I would imagine you would'nt be able to get anywhere near in the hight of the summer as it isnt a very big area.
You can either get to the waterfalls by car, taxi or organised coach tour (there are no service buses that go there - they stop in the village just outside and you have to walk a good 30 mins walk to the Algar Waterfalls.
When you arrive you have a fairly steep hill to walk up with a couple of souviner shops on the way and once you've got your tickets there are many steep steps wo walk up to the waterfalls (I would not recommend this for the eldery, disabled or anyone with walking difficulties as these steps are really quite steep).

The walk around the waterfalls is very nice and great scenery.
The first waterfall that you see is where the Timotei shampoo advert was filmed.
There is a designated picnic area but it is not along side the waterfalls - no food, drink or ice creams can be consumed near the waterfalls.
There is also a restaurant at the bottom by the ticket office.

The Callosa area is also where the Nispero fruits are grown - there really are a must try/! and very cheap (bag of 20 for 1euro!)

I would go back to these waterfalls as there really are very nice and only 25 mins journey from Benidorm and only costing 3 euros entry. When I went visited the waterfalls it was a faily warm sunny day and there were about two coach loads of people visiting so wasnt too busy. I would not going during the summer time as I can imagine it gets very busy.
