“Smart villa with all home comforts”

We weren't disappointed with this villa. In fact it was nicer than the photos. It's all on one level but surprisingly spacious. The living, dining area is generous, light and airy and the kitchen has a large hatch facing in so if you're cooking you're not missing out on the large tv - or any family action.

There was everything you'd need in the kitchen which had a massive fridge and freezer should you need to stock up. The owners leave a few bits and bobs to get you started with cooking and with such fresh ingredients it's a shame not to get cooking!

Two twin beds both with bathrooms and lots of storage space meant we could put away the suitcases and all our clothes. Towels were provided for beach too which helped reduce the weight on ryan air flights - however, one beach and one face and bath towel wasn't quite enough. Obviously you can rely on the weather to dry towels but another another stash would have been helpful as I was washing a lot. A minor issue.

There's a large roof terrace a grassy area and the pool is nearby. Lots of young children here and as we have teens we opted for the beach mostly (5/10 minute). The owners have bikes and golf clubs available and that was really helpful and we made use of both at the golf range and especially enjoyed cycling around the site to the shop for fresh bread in the morning.

The site feels very safe, smart but we didn't eat very much in the restaurants which seemed disorganised and poorly staffed. Around the main pool area seemed to focus on a toddler disco which carries on into the night - great if you have youngsters not if you have teens so we ate at the restaurants just outside such as Flavour. It's a little isolated but peaceful but we really needed the car, I would feel trapped here otherwise. We've stayed at La Manga resort and La Torre which are in the nearby area and this compares very well. The sporting facilities are great and paddle tennis worth a go. Gym was closed for some reason which was a shame and there's a cheap 15 euro offer to use the spa but I wasn't sitting indoors and missing any sun so I can't comment on how good that is. I would say the 'town' and number of restaurants lacked a mix and atmosphere for me but I think that's fairly typical of these resorts.

As for Villa Rigby it's a great base to visit the area or just chill.

“perfect place to chill out and explore”
Reviewed 11 July 2012 for a stay in September 2011

We had an amazing time at Villa Rigby – home from home, great place to chill out in the evenings and perfect base to explore from in the day.
Bike rack at villa allows you to fit the 2 bikes to your (hire) car to explore further afield.
Went to Cartagena, Hiked in Cal Blanque, Quad biked and Kayaked in Espuna, and got mud baked in San Pedro…

Lots to keep you entertained indoors if you decide to stay in. DVDs – pub quiz game was great, Lots of movies and books too – English channels on TV. Loads of info on what to do – top rate crazy golf with fab food nearby. (walk or cycle)

Brilliantly equipped and having basic provisions was great. Dishwasher and washing machine made the stay really comfortable – no need to bring towels or adaptors – great when using low cost flights
Cooked most nights and had a few dinners out locally – one at nice hotel restaurant on complex for a special dinner. Free wi-fi at hotel and bar.
We were able to have breakfast outdoors each day and relaxed on the lovely roof terrace after sightseeing and hiking– watching the sun go down.
UK Based owners made our booking and visit easy
The resort itself has lots to offer It's close to the airport (15 mins drive). Close to the beaches (8 mins drive). Supermarket on site – but plenty of other shops in a short distance The Villa is based on Mar Menor Golf resort but it's a not just for golfers -

Can’t wait to go again !
