It's a really building and we were apprehensive of the narrow corridors up until we reached our room which was surprisingly spacious! They've somehow fitted huge bedrooms in a tiny building, so good job there! As the name might indicate, its a very artsy place; paintings by local artists are hung all over the facility and the everything about the hotel is very modern and efficient. The staff are wonderful and always ready to help. A tiny room at the ground floor serves a hearty breakfast! All in all its a big experience in a small package. Oh, and its also very close a metro stations so thats another plus. The only problem i had with the place was basically the neighborhood, which didn't feel very safe when me and my wife were walking back late into the night. Better to take a taxi if you are past midnight.

Nice little hotel fairly central most things within walking distance, main shopping areas the museums etc. We walked everywhere. Easy to get to from the airport via train I think it cost €2.50 each. The hotel just being 10 minute walk from the station. Personally I found the rooms to be quite dark I do like to be able to see outside, we were in room 403 which is meant to be a suite. Location was good near the metro, although we didn’t use as Puerto del sol was easy to access on foot 15 minutes walk.
The room didn’t have a full length mirror which would have been nice.
The room was very clean, kind of weird set up with a sliding door separating bathroom area from beds. Having said that once someone was in the shower you could use the sinks or use the toilet without one seeing the other.
Beds were very comfortable, little kettle in room and teabags in room replenished daily.
The staff were very helpful and sweet.
The breakfast was a bit sparse for me, with only a few yogurts being put in the fridge at a time, really small bowls of cut up strawberries or raspberries and nuts, and a few pastries. Which would have been ok if they were put out in larger quantities, the breakfast consisted of large quantity of hard boiled eggs few slithers of Spanish omelette on a small plate handful of pastries very small bowls of nuts and fruit few pots of plain yogurt, Brown or white bread. Most of the time you had to ask for them to replenish which they did but only bringing out one or two pieces at a time, if there was more than 2 people down for breakfast it was silly. When I asked did they have anymore raspberries the young girl who was doing breakfast that day went to the shop to get some more. As I said very sweet staff.
The Tea and coffee machine was good and free and very welcome after a long day out walking.

We were made so welcome on arrival with offers of drinks and help. The room was clean and comfortable. Artrip is situated within walking distance of art galleries, the Retiro park and also the Atocha train station. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to family and friends.

We travelled with a couple of friends on our first visit to Madrid. Our itinerary was to visit the Prada and Reina Sofia. This hotel was ideally suited for both. The staff are friendly, knowledgable and nothing is too much trouble. When we had problems with our room, there was no fuss and they simply relocated us to another room... brilliant!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor at the back, nice and quiet, but if you want a view book one at the front... if you are tall and a light sleeper, avoid the attic rooms ;-)
