Owner description: The Tablao de Carmen pays tribute to the great flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya, born in 1913 in the gypsy quarter of Somorrostro which then existed in what is today Barcelona's Olympic Village. Carmen Amaya made her debut in 1929 before King Alfonso XII on the site which is today the Tablao de Carmen at the inauguration of Poble Espanyol de Montjuic. The Tablao offers a top quality pure flamenco show, a direct descendant of the tradition. It dynamically presents several of the most important palos or styles of flamenco so that the spectator can get to know the richness and variety of this art form. It also highlights its different forms of expression: instrumental, vocal and dance.

The venue is within the Spanish village so it's worth arriving early to look at the shops and bars. We were a group of 9 with fantastic seats on a long table very close to the stage with the dancers almost within reach. The tasty and varied tapas were served before the show and more than enough for an evening meal. Service was excellent and there was plenty of sangria flowing freely the whole time. The dancers were fantastic and portrayed a flamenco atmosphere. It didn't feel like a 'tourist trap' as most people there seemed Spanish. We only wish they could have danced for more than 45 minutes.

Thank Margaret A

Avoid this place , it’s a tourist trap . For the money you spend here you can have an amazing dinner in a great restaurant. The Flamenco is a joke and the food is below average . Seriously DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Thanks for your feedback.
Flamenco is the reason to be of the Tablao de Carmen and we take very seriously the quality and style of our artistic offer, with a Spanish perspective and not a touristic focused perspective.
The artists and their performances are developed in the most orthodox and traditional way, just as a local public would like to attend.
We are sorry that you did not have the opportunity to enjoy the show the evening of your visit.
It would be very useful to know what was the date of your visit in order to understand the reason of your disappointment.
Our prices include not only the flamenco show but also the dinner and free entrance to one of the most emblematic and peculiar historic places of Barcelona, built in 1929 as the first theme park in the world, the Spanish Village (Poble Espanyol). We regret that none of these has been appreciated when you came but we hope you will get back in touch to inform us about the date you came in order to double check what went so wrong for you.

The dancers, singers, and musicians put so much soul and energy into the dance performance. It is hard not to get emotionally involved. Very moving. Do not miss this show.

We went to the 22:30 show. The dancers, male and female, performed fantastically. An experience that shouldn’t be missed.

I was always dreaming about seeing this dance and some days ago my dream came true. When we were in Barcelona I decided to book El Tablao de Carmen because of some reasons: first because of the great reviews and We wanted to visit some places at the same time and not to run from one side of city to another. I booked tickets in Internet directly from their site/ Before the performance we had a tasty dinner. The manager was very kind to move our reservation from 8 o'clock to 7.
But the best thing of course was the performance itself. The passion the young artists danced and sang was unforgettable. We had a great time and I want to thank everybody working in this place. And, of course, good luck and special thanks from Israel!!!
