I realise that this is a budget hotel and it is in a prime location in the centre of town. We were somewhat surprised to arrive and find most of the building cloaked in scaffolding and netting and it was obvious that the buliders were part way through a big renovation. We travelled as a group of 6 and so I saw the interior of three different rooms. They were all quite a contrast.
Our room (512) was at the back of the building. It looked down into a dingy deep courtyard with glimpses of the mountains in the distance. It was much smaller that the other rooms and had no balcony or fridge. However, being at the back of the building it was much quieter.
The other rooms were at the front of the hotel and overlooked the square. One had a balcony but there was no balcony furniture so it was fairly unusable to sit on. The other had no balcony. Both these rooms had fridges which in a hot country is obviously a great advantage. Both these rooms were apparently very noisy at night as they overlooked the bust square. As none of the room have air conditioning it was essential to leave windows wide open to stay cool.
On the plus side the breakfasts were excellent and being taken on the top floor of the hotel afforded excellent views out to sea and of the harbour.
Reception staff were some of the friendliest hotel staff I have ever encountered and were very helpful.

Room Tip: Quiet smaller rooms at the back. Rooms with a balcony are noisier as they overlook the square.

We paid Capital, but they put us in Pelinor. There is also a third hotel from the same group Plaza. Hotel Capital was renovated and moved us to another, and it was ok. Location Capital is a perfect, strict city center. After renovation it will probably be even better. My recommendation.

Can not beat the location, service and especially the included buffet breakfast when you consider the price. We stayed 4 nights in #403 and had no real complaints other than perhaps it would be nice to have international channels on the tv. The room is basic but clean and spacious with a corner balcony. We had no complaints regarding noise and could not hear anything from adjacent rooms. The Hotel is a 2 minute walk from Plaza Espana and the main shopping street. Tourist Information booth is just out front and most attractions and restaurants are within easy walking distance, including the Ferry and Bus Terminals. Have to say the buffet breakfast included in the price is the best we have found in a hotel for a long time.

This hotel is in a fantastic location, very close to shops and restaurants with easy access to public transport. The hotel itself is nice but in desperate need of a lick of paint. Our room (802)was basic but adequate. We were very pleased with the double bed as apposed to the usual two singles pushed together. The balcony was huge with enough room for a table and chairs and two sun loungers and a lovey view overlooking the plaza. The only let down was that it was a bit scruffy. The staff were helpful too. We had a problem with our transfer and the lady on reception (sorry I didn't get her name)sorted it all out for us. The only really negative thing about the hotel is the noise. You can hear everything from the next rooms, the hallway even the lift. Breakfast time was the worst with scraping chairs, people yelling and clanking dishes. Lucky for me, I'll sleep through anything but for others, it could ruin your holiday.
