We returned again this year for a 10 day break at this lovely hotel. We are sun worshipers and know that we will always find a space by the pool without having to get up and reserve a sunbed at dawn! Not always the case worldwide.

This year we booked a Junior Suit again but this time ended up with a huge room with a dining area. The problem was that it was so very difficult to regulate the air conditioning in such a very large room and often found it too cold.

The biggest problem about this suit room 218 is that it is positioned on the front road side of the hotel directly above the road junction traffic lights and so it can be noisy. The noise can be very bad when an ambulance is trying to get through the traffic lights to the nearby hospital. I do not recommend a room on the road side of the hotel and when we return next year we will ask for a room as far away from the noisy road as possible. We did not have this problem last year because the suit we were allocated was not on the road side of the hotel.

The hotel is well situated for a number of very good restaurants which is why we chose it and will return next year.

I recommend the hotel provided you chose a room away from the road.

Great hotel, great staff, immaculately clean, good food.
Got the junior suite and thought it was only just acceptable, thought it was poorly laid out and a bit on the small side, it did look put onto the garden which was peacefully quiet which was great. If you were sold this as an adults only by Indulgent Escapes you will be disappointed it is not. Breakfast is very good and also a good location.

The Grand Hotel Mencey is like my home in Tenerife
I just love every piece of its history, past glamour, art, and the peace of the gardens and pool
Is a gem in Santa Cruz that will survive for many years to come
Iberostar did a great job in the modernization of the infrastructure, keeping the history and patina of the luxury and the past
Its a modern version of one of the top 10 spanish hotels of the las 100 years
Amazing beddings, furniture, service and outstanding breakfas
I will love The Mencey forever

Stay for 7 nights with our kids and friends. This is 3rd year running we stay here.

Check-in easy and friendly, good parking facilities but they cost a bit..

Rooms were ok, but we were not placed next to each other. A bit noisy but in general ok rooms facing the garden (a must)

Breakfast is the best, lots of local produce, delicious with a big variety of choices, great smoothies and good coffee

Service is great in general and sitting in the afternoon sun and have a drink on the lawn is the best relaxing experience.

All in all still a top hotel, only minor issue is that the hotel needs a brush up on the maintenance side

But happy to go back anytime

We found this hotel lovely, good rooms and excellent breakfast and service. However, we had problems with the bathrooms that took sometime to be fixed. Also, the spa, which is great, but paid separately, had some problems with the maintenance. In any case, I recommend the hotel and would come back. It is not in the central area of Tenerife, it is a 20 minutes walk.
