Fantastic villa, modern, comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Very private and not overlooked. Pool just great!
Uninterrupted views across to the sea easy on the eye.
Supermarket, shops etc within a short 10 min walk and taxi rank close to hand too.
Would we go again? Definitely..

“GREAT FACILITY.FANTASTIC VIEWS”

To celebrate my Sons 50th birthday it was decided by the Family that we should all spend a week together in the Sun. Gran canaria was our choice with its consistent weather. We then had the problem of finding a Villa that would house all 17 of us plus the latest addition who was nearly 1. The Villa Azul in Puerto Rico will house such a party. It was ideal in many respects especially with its views from its high position above the Town, the facilities for self catering and a good sized pool that was to prove very popular. It was never going to be easy satisfying such a large group but considering the age group went from 1 right up to 75 I think we did pretty well.
Thankfully we are a fit group because there are a lot of steps within the Villa complex. The very nature of the area on the side of a hill, and quite a steep one at that, means that you cannot get away with anything flat.
It is a long way down to the beach shops and harbour area. The able bodied go down 700 steps, But you can go down by road which is a manageable slope or take a taxi for around 3 Euros. Certainly the journey back was worth the taxi fare. There is an alternative shop and Restaurant area which is near the top of the hill. There is also a Supermarket attached to the nearby Apart hotel.
The Room facilities in the Villa were very good with comfortable beds. Flat screen Tvs with Sky reception was available. There is a good sized lounge area but as the weather was so good most of our time was spent on the terrace taking in the fantastic views over the harbour and the distant ocean. We had a good breakfast every morning and ate in house on about 3 occasions using the excellent Kitchen. No shortage of cutlery cups and glasses. There was a big fridge which housed the food and the booze.
The sizeable pool was made good use of by all our party. The youngsters spent a lot of time in it and we had some great evenings of fun. We were lucky with the weather and some exceptional night time temperatures. The only drawback was the lack of Air Conditioning which would have made sleep more comfortable.
We did have an issue with a quite dangerous cactus plant which was in the lower garden. Despite being warned about it when it was discovered one of our youngsters got too close and ended up with dozens of severe spikes in his leg. Be warned. Frankly I think it should be removed. In the lounge area I must mention the lights that will illuminate the 2 steps that are hard to define on the tiled floor. Its found to the right of the first step at near floor level. Overall an ideal Villa for a large party.
Its worth it just for the fantastic views from the Patio.

Liked best: It was so good for a large group. Breakfast overlooking the harbour
Liked least: Just a few too many steps. But I was the oldest member of our party

“Didn't want to leave :(”

Stayed with family from the end of July to the 1st week in August 13. Absolutely gorgeous villa with plenty of space for everyone. Loved the views, rooms, friendly staff, private heated pool.... There were 100s of steps down to the beach but a taxi was only 3 euros. We enjoyed the steps though, they helped burn our holiday calories! We would defiantly stay again if holidaying with lots of family and recommend this lovely holiday villa. There were lots of places to eat day and night. A bus station near to the beach. Puerto Rico beach was lovely but you can also catch a bus to Amadores Beach and Mogan Beach. Also there's a bus to the airport which cuts the price down on taxis. Happy hols if you choose Villa Azul!
PS. I wouldn't recommend the boat trip to see the dolphins, we went and didn't feel very well!

“Firstly the pictures online do not do the villa justice”

we arrived when it was evening & was blown away by the villa but it was not until the morning, when you see the panoramic sea views that you can really appreciate the beautiful settings, the villa is slightly difficult to find as it is nestled between Puerto Azul + Bahia Azul hotels (with these directions you will have no difficulties) the villa has everything you can need for a comfortable stay, it feels like home away from home & to be honest you only really need to leave for supplies, it is more suited to adults as there is a lot of marble & sharp edges around but I would say it’s also not suitable for any body with a disability or the elderly, it is on top of a hill that requires either walking down 700 steps or up a steep hill, there is a local overpriced shop based in the Puerto Azul hotel next door but the best place if you plan to cook & save money is to get a taxi to Arguineguin & shop In the Spar or Hippodino.
The villas bathrooms are luxurious & the beds are comfortable, there is lots of seating & areas to chill, the pool is heated & always seems to be comfortable, we did’nt manage to get the lights working & 1 down side is there is not enough loungers around the pool but then the area is not very big, but maybe 1 or 2 more would have been great, we had difficulty getting the fancy cooker to work but help was dispatched in the form of ‘Super Dad’ who had just arrived on the island & we did manage to figure it out eventually…you need to place the pan on just as the numbers start to flash!!
Overall the Villa is an ambient, beautiful environment & we cant wait to go back.
