Stayed here on a Tauck tour... quite the old world elegance...attentive friendly staff...be aware that there is no in room coffee, no coffee on the lobby, and the restaurant opens at 7am, no room service until 8am...also found the room a/c to be weak...free WiFi worked pretty well. Great location, physically impressive hotel.

The hotel Alfonso is in a great location on Calle Coso not far from where bus 34 drops you off at Conde Aranda if arriving in Zaragoza at the railway station ( it’s a short bus ride) Nice welcoming lobby and friendly staff to check you in. Welcome sweets ( chocolate covered fruits d’Aragon) were a nice touch.

First time in Zaragoza so location is key and the hotel could not be better situated, it’s minutes from the Basilica, the market, shops and cafes. Room was on the 7th floor with views over the city. The room was nicely appointed, good sized bed, fridge for your water, desk area , remote controlled blinds and good a/c. it was clean and bright and plenty of wardrobe and storage space. Wifi which was free and easy to connect to but very patchy and slow ( pages would not refresh – better service in the lobby) There was also a computer in the lobby should you not have a mobile device.

Bathroom was clean, spacious , lots of soaps and gel and a tub ! Pool on the roof ( great views towards the Basilica ) was out of action but there was still loungers so you could soak up the sun. The indoor pool was also closed but I’m sure you could probably use the pool at their sister hotel Palafox if you so wanted. I guess it was closed for the season and open in the summer when needed.

Breakfast was not included in my rate but at €14 per person seemed a little excessive, there is a Starbucks attached to the hotel as well as numerous cafes on Cesar Augusto or Alfonso 1 so lots of choice to suit all budgets. The tram runs past the hotel and stops at Plaza Espana or Cesar Augusto before heading over the river. It was great to see the Basilica lit up at night in all it’s glory and stroll back to the hotel after dinner and perhaps a late night cocktail in Plaza del Pilar. Perfect location in a very beautiful and special city.

Staying here for a month and never got tired of the place. This hotel is directly in the center and has plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops just out the front door. The only available parking is in a nearby parking garage which is expensive but I believe something cheaper can be achieved with the hotel. This is unavoidable with any hotel in the center. Recommend this for any length of stay.
